i have muslim friend and his not only an ordinary person and i met him though net. i've know him for more than 10 years now and our friendship are strong. yes fulks, his a male and his a muslim. i learned a lot from him. he have too many business and have good position in his country.. a very down to earth person than other can be. i first meet him during the time that we need to discuss about muslim people in our class. i dont know how to chat that time. i only know how to email and do some school research. i just search for muslim people over the net and send them email if its alright with them to discuss about their life, values and belief. his the first and only one who manage to reply. he said his been busy those days and found my email unique and interesting. that his been too tired reading business proposal and all sort about business. his so kind to tell me in details about muslim. i asked his number and i called him to thank him. and he was surprised. he couldnt imagine my calls. then we exchange emails to each other. another friend of mine told me of why not chatting with him. so i told him about it and he was laughing coz he thought i dont like to chat. i dont know either but my friend taught me. we constantly exchange communication even if his too busy. we exchange gift to each other. we even meet and i will totally say that for all men i've meet.. he was the first and only gentleman i've been with. he never even took advantage on me even physically. that was a total pure friendship.. he once told me that he will be or we will be the best friend we can be. and im glad to have a friend like him. though sometimes i feel so small coz of his position in business industry and to his country but everytime we talk we never talk about what his position in the business and in society. a totally bestfriend for me. a real treasure..

I honestly don't see what the big deal is... I mean, it's nice that you found a good penpal and talk to him all the time... but what does him being Muslim have to do with anything? Why does it matter?

bcoz we all know that muslim culture and tradition is very different unlike the other country. if you can see how different they are... other country might also have different tradition nor values nor belief but muslim are still different. if you could only check muslim background history then you will agree with me that yes they are... though its easy to say we are all people and we are the same. but you cant avoid some people who think different way about muslim people. you may not aware of it..

I am aware of it... and I tend to not make a big deal of it because I'm aware of it. People are people, period. The day people stop trying to point out how different we all are is the day discrimination will stop. I make it a point to learn about different people, different cultures, different religions, because most of the conflict in the world could be resolved simply by understanding each other. In the end, we're really not all that different. Maybe it's just because I grew up around so many different kinds of people that I find it so easy to understand them all... by-product of being born and raised in the capital of Canada, lol

It's great I guess that you want to learn about other faiths and cultures, more people should. I used to work with an uzbek girl, we were pretty close.

I have lots of muslim friends because I am living in Mindanao, and island in the Philippines where muslims are also staying. I don't see any problem in interacting with them, I think they're nice and some of them are intelligent. It's good to have friends who are like them, makes you learn a lot of things about their religion, beliefs and culture.
