Back while the incompetent press was botching up the job of reporting on the disaster, Rep. William "Ice Box" Jefferson illegally used a National Guard truck for personal use. While committing this crime, another crime was uncovered. The idiot actually cleared $90,000 in cold, hard cash from his freezer. That discovery lead to investigations against Ice Box Jefferson. The investigation found enough evidence to put him on trial for over $400,000 in bribes and attempting to get millions more in "brokered" deals in Africa. He was convicted of 11 of the 16 counts for which he stood trial. I'm not sure if I would want supporters if this is how they would choose to defend me... "If Marion Barry can be convicted of smoking crack cocaine on video and come back, then I think Bill Jefferson can have a second chance," ~Rev. Aubrey Wallace "There was so much controversy, the way they (federal authorities) went to the man's home and took stuff," she said. "He was no worse than the others." ~Cynthia Toliver {{Note: All quotes used by the incompetent press need to be taken with a grain of salt since we have no idea how the press folded, spindled or mutilated it between the time the person said it and the printing of it in the media}} http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090805/ap_on_re_us/us_jefferson_trial

He was no worse than the others. That tells me they should all be investigated, charged and most importantly taken out of office.

I'm wondering what kind of person would think, "he's no worse than the others" is any kind of defense.

It tells you there mind set. Corrupt and greed have become common place and exceptable to them and the nation. So they are shocked when someone gets in trouble for it. They are like hey we have been doing this for years and almost everyone is doing it so that makes it ok. If the majority of our elected officials are corrupt jerks that it makes it ok to do it. As citizens we send a message to them what is exceptable and what isn't. When we vote in criminals or re-elect someone who is corrupt it sends the message that the american people are ok with type of behavior. So really blame us for electing and re- electing these jerks.

I am from Louisiana and Jefferson got just what he deserved, and I am so glad the jury did what it did, by finding him guilty. And I think hey should investigate his entire family, his cheating to send his daughters to the best colleges, this man has been doing this his whole career. If they can find ex governor Edwards of committing a crime then he (Jefferson) should be right there with him. At least Edwards done for the people while he was feathering his pocket. Many of us signed petitions to make them let Edwards out, he committed no crime against his people but against the gaming industry. Louisiana has been run by nothing but thugs for years and finally they got a governor and a DA that decided it was time to clean up the state. The whole Jefferson family participated in this scam and they should all have charges filed against them and their daughters diplomias taken from them.

I see your point friend. It would seem as if this is just another "Irregular Government Occasion." I don't exactly have a rebuttal though. I'm not sure if this case. I havn't heard of it.
