How would you like to have your funeral while you are still alive?

Why do people talk about good things on a dead person?
I asked this because for days I have been hearing how good Cory Aquino is. It is so nice to celebrate her life, she had done a great deal for the Filipino people. What is just sad is she is not really physically present to hear these nice comments and to personally thank those who made the comments.
It reminded me of Mitch Albom's novel, 'Tuesdays with Morie', it is a novel based on the life story of Mitch and his dying professor Morie (Morie is now dead). According to the novel, Morie once attended a funeral ceremony when he asked the same question as I did in the beginning of this discussion. He said it was so useless to share nice memories with someone who is already dead for that dead person will never enjoy hearing it. What is funny about the novel is that Morie held two funeral ceremonies while he is still alive. He said, he'd better have the funeral rights while he is still alive so he can still hear all the nice things his friends and relatives could remember about him. According to him, at least he could thank them personally.
How about you, would you like to do the same?
