Fact or Fiction?

How good are you at knowing when someone is telling you something that is true, and when they are just making things up? I am going to leave a few tidbits here, and you can decide whether they are facts or if I just made something up in order to be able to make a post here. 1.Peanuts are used in making dynamite 2.Most of us use our left hand for 56% of what we type 3.Almonds are a member of the peach family 4.An ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain 5.In England, the speaker of the house is not allowed to speak 6.Winston Churchill was born in a ladies restroom Got anything to add to the list?

I've heard the one about Churchill over and over, so I guess it might be true too

According to my sources, even # 5 is true, Elic. The only one I am really not sure about is the Winston Churchill one, but several sources say that one is true as well, so.......

hi bohemian most are probably right but I think Winston Churchill was not born in a ladies restroom, and an ostrich'eye probably is not bigger than his brain, no almonds are not members of the peach family, know that is wrong. dont know about the peanuts and I do think most of us use our left hands a lot more than we realize.

Hatley!!! You're back! So nice to see you, again! And, that is a fact! According to my sources, they are all facts.

I'd say that each and every one of these is a definite maybe. Is this one true or not? A baby panda is smaller than a peanut.

It's true alright! The Kangaroo also gives birth to a very tiny baby.

I don't know if that's true or not, but I know that they weigh only a few ounces when they are born.

I learned in school, a hundred years ago, that a newborn kangaroo can fit into a teaspoon.

Being an empath, I can tell when someone is lying to me.. sometimes knowing this is a gift but many times it's been a curse. Fact: a pig is the smartest animal! I know this to be true! I used to have a pig and and you would be amazed how smart they are! bacon, anyone? hahahah!

Pigs ARE smart animals, and I do know this for a fact. My brother had one that probably could have been taught to do tricks, if she hadn't been a school project. She was funny to watch. She thought she was a dog.*L*

Well I usually have a pretty good BS meter as far as personal stuff. As far as "facts", if something sounds fishy to me I go and look it up. I don't know if this one is true or not but it's funny (?): Cockroaches can live for 9 days after their head has been cut off.

All I know is that they are definitely hard to get rid of, and that I can't stand them! And I am unanimous on this.

Well, according to my sources, they are all true. Now, these sources could be wrong, but in a way, they all kind of make some kind of sense... to me, at least.

There are different sources, and I accumulated them over the years, but if you do a search for weird facts, you should be able to find them.

In Scotland and Wales you can't play soccer on a football pitch but in England you MUST play football on any pice of land that is 22 yards long but no more or less. Texas is called The Lone Star State because Joan Crawford was it's first film star. George Washington wore a blonde pony tail in commemoration of the fact that his family originated from Essex. (Essex girls have blonde pony tails and wear white stiletto shoes allegedly).

I think the one about peanuts could be true, but I'm not sure about the number 2 56% of people using there left hand for typing, though I probably should know that one considering I'm left handed, and I think the almond one is true. and the one about the ostrich's is true, but I'm not sure about the last two on the list. Anyway I dont have anything else to add, but I had fun guessing these, let me know if my thoughts were correct or not, hope I at least guessed a couple of them right lol.

Well, apples, according to my sources, they are all true. Someone else says it depends on which source you believe.

Well I knew a some of these fun facts but a few of them I was unsure of so I looked them up. Seems like you have not listed any that were untrue. Or did I miss some???

Nope, savak, I think you got them all. As far as I can gather, they are all true.

Well aside from the Winston Churchill thing, I know all the rest to be true. I could go with it, or maybe my brain is twisted cause a speaker being not allowed to speak doesn't make sense, but I guess since the speaker of the house is a just a moderator, they could moderate in another fashion. I wish I could add to your list of odd facts to determine the truth or not. But as I rack my brain I can not come up with much. A rainbow, is a perfect circle. The water to drink today, is the same water the dinosaurs drank.

Brings a whole new meaning to the phrase "Refreshing glass of cold water" doesn't it. But yea, all water on the planet, is being constantly recycled. Cheers.

I think the 1st argument is not true. The 2nd one is true for me atlest as I do use it a lot.3rd is a bit confusing and I am not so sure even ater being a bio student.4th one is false as the ostrich has its brain bigger than its eyes.5th might be true as it is the same case here in India.6th one is true as I have also read it somewhere. The one to be getting added is 7.parrafin wax is used to let apples appear more sparkling and fresh

These are all true. Almonds are related to peaches and apricots. The seed inside the pit of apricots is often marketed at "the poor man's almonds." They do LOOK like almonds, but they taste horrible. Very bitter.
