Would You Buy Food From a Store....

if you found a mousetrap under the shelf? I worked at a store not long ago that had a mouse problem and traps were set randomly around the store after the little critters devoured bags of chips and various snacks on the shelves. Sometimes rodents (or bugs) can become such a problem for stores, but no one really knows! (Customer-wise, I mean.) I had to repeatedly clean the shelves, ridding the mouse poop from customers to see. It was gross!!! (I worked at a mini-mart, not an actual grocery store, where theoretically food doesn't move as fast.) I just feared if someone had seen the mouse poop or had seen a trap that was meant to be hidden from customer view that it would hurt the food sales. What do you think?

LOL! I think it's funny! Seriously I'd buy from there! Not knowing the problem, even if I saw a trap or two! Was it infested bad? That's the main thing, at least they were trying to get it under control! May be I've been in Mexico to long! LOL! tdemex

Ha, you live in Mexico, where (apparently-as you have hinted) there are constant rodent problems? Well, the actual numbers of rodents was unknown, but the damage was very evident! I was taking out the garbage one day (we had a large bin on wheels that we rolled out to the dumpster) and as I was finishing up, the last box I grabbed out of the bin had a mouse in it! Yuck-I HATE mice, rats, anything of the nature....LOL. Then we had acorns stashed in some cabinets, and when we called the pest control guys, they said it was most likely a wood rat! Mice are bad enough, but a rat? Oh God......

I'm from Detroit and have lived all over the USA, But I've been in Mexico on and on for the last 9 years! Actually it's pretty good here. You may see a cockroach every now and then in the small local shops! There are many here in the local areas because people can walk to them easy! You answered my next question which was "did they call an exterminator" and thats a good thing, the next is how are they getting in in the store! tdemex

Who the heck knows how they got in-the exterminator said that mice can squeeze in through a hole not much bigger than a pencil width. That seems far fetched, but maybe it's true. They may just sneak in under our feet when we open the door for all anyone knows. Thos things breed like crazy, so for all we knew, there was a whole family in there! I left before we found out it was a mice or a wood rat problem, like the pest control guy suggested.

I've been to enough stores to know that most have bug or mice problems. But, if I actually saw the mousetrap or some sign of mice around the food I was about to buy, I wouldn't buy it. I guess if I didn't actually see it I could pretend it wasn't there lol

No i dont think that i would, its just too dirty for my liking. Out of sight out of mind and all, im sure many stores have problems with vermin but to openly display mouse traps is just a bit too much, i wouldnt be able to get it out of my head and it would put me off my food.

Yes, rodents are very dirty animals and likewise, you would associate the business as not being very clean either. Although we all did our best to keep up the store's health and safety codes, that mouse problem was just yucky! If I bought anything from the store, I thoroughly inspected it before eating it!
