Do u really think India has it to be a super-power? Will we be a developed country? And most importantly is it ever possible to eradicate poverty ?

I do not know if India will be a Super Power or not by 2020, but i am sure there will be a lot of Power I eman Electric Power- in a sense Power for all by that time. I am not very clear on a what comprises a Developed Country. IMO it must be Good, Efficient and Affordable Transport- the Metro Rail Transport would be operational in most megalopolises by that time, Excellent Communications- this is where I feel we Indians have arrived, we are at par or even better than most of the world! Food must be Cheap so that nobody goes Hungry- in all likelihood we would be able to achieve that- for this was the single self developed capability of the country thanks to Dr M.S. Swaminathan's Green Revolution Efforts and the White Revolution by Dr.Kurien, World Class Healthcare must be available: I think here also we are doing well- though availability to ALL is a question mark. Affordable and quality Clothing- yes we must confess we have arrived. Shelter for All- I have my own doubts whether we will be able to zero down the number of Homeless. Poverty Rradication- IMO this mudt be taken as the responsibility of the individual. Government can at best be a facilitator. India could be the Super Power- i.e. being the one with an unmatched Defence Weapons Arsenal- only if China goes bust half way through. I am yet to see that miracle happen: India producing its own = fully home grown technology. One good direction is that we have bidden goodbye to that deification of mediocrity called Socialism- there is hope that some good polity could rise with the demise of our opportunist politicians. The portents are encouraging- in that the fellows who cannot be even imagined to do some "real work" are forced to do some action what with the rise in general awareness- otherwise our politicians are the notorious rhetoricians!

Thank you darisingstar! These are my true feelings. I would only feel proud to see India there where our beloved visionary former President Sr Abdul Kalam dreamt we should be. But don't you think it is a lot of sweat and responsibility for every one of us?

2020 is very less years left for a big development.I dont think India will be able to emerge as a world power due to the increasing population concerned with problems like poverty and unemployment. The government in order to check these and rake measures against is going just the opposite way, like the prices of every thing is rising after the new government has uphold power, the are not effective in controlling poverty rather increasing it. Unemployment is raising day by day. How will India fight with these till 2020 to become one of the world powers?

Although India have the potential to become one of the super powers in 2020, but still it is not practically feasible due to certain self centered political factors that prevail in our country. If it is not for those reasons, then i can guarantee anyone that India would be emerging as one of the most potential super powers in 2020 but time should tell about everything and it is too pre mature an activity to calculate about that now/

i don't like to be any country a super power. what is super power????? i never understand this logic of super power. on one hand you talk about peace all over the world and on the other hand u talk that india should be a super power. if every country will run to become a super power, then there will be only violence and violence and how will a country achieve peace.. so no country should super power. and if u talk about india as developed country, then i think india can be a developed country till 2020 or i think before 2020. and the question of poverty, then poverty can not be removed from its root in any country but it can be reduced. n it will be reduced before 2020..

India will of course become a super power, but you should learn something. & you have to tell these things to your friends, neighbors & relatives also. "Set a goal in life.To achieve that goal, acquire the knowledge, work hard and when problem occurs, defeat it and succeed" "Always keep yourself, your home, your surroundings, neighbourhood and environment clean." "Lead an honest life free from all corruption and set an example for others to adopt a righteous way of life." "Light the lamp of knowledge in the nation and ensure that it remains lit for ever." happy myloting, keep smiling

India will not be a super power in 2020. It will be more developed defn. Count and tell me the number of cities in India that can be compared to New york or London or paris or Tokyo. May be Mumbai and Delhi can be included. Not much the rest. Even to develop the top 10 cities of India will be a big task. Its only now we are having international airports. Shipping and railways will follow. What is the possibilty of starting a microsoft or GM from india before 2020. 2050 would be a better target.

For every good, there will be a bad with it, for every action there will a opposite reaction. likewise, INDIA will be definetely a super power, in 2020, but poverty will always remain, until the politicians play the game of caste, money and minority appeasing.
