Are you doing anything for your childrens future?

Are you doing anything to help your children out financially later on in life? I have two savings accounts for my daughter, one is a goverment funded one which all children get a voucher worth £250 to open a trust fund and the other is a regular savings account which i contribute to so that she can have some money when she is 18, she can spend it on a car or education, i dont mind but i would like to be able to do a little something for her and help her get on in life.

Right now we are really struggling to get by on the day to day, so, no we haven't started savings accounts or anything for the children to get a start in the future. More than likely we will end up doing what our parents did for us once we got out of high school. I had student loans in my name, still do, but I've never had to mess with them at all. My mother pays them for myself, my brother and my sister. That is her way of being able to provide college education for us. It also helped us to build up good credit. Of course, it didn't hurt issues any that I also had scholarships that I earned based on merit.

Thats a pretty good idea as like you say when children are younger money can be pretty tight but once they have flown the nest you will find yourself with more money to spare.

Yes, parents will do anything for their children. Saving up money so she can use in the future is great. When she grows up she will need the money badly. There is college and her moving out. My mother gave me all her savings too when I had to move out. parents :)

That was lovely of her to do that for you. Unfortunatley we were really poor when i was a child and my mum was on her own so we didnt have any money for her to save for me. So now that i have a family of my own and i earn a good wage i am just trying to make sure she has all of the things and oppurtunities that i never had.
