The Ultimate Folly in God

Could God microwave a burrito so hot, that he himself could not eat it? If we are to believe that God is omnipotent, the surely he can do whatever he pleases. Of course heat shouldnt matter to him, because hes God and he can do whatever, even if it means eating an impossibly hot burrito, but at the same time, we could also say that of course he could superheat this burrito so that it would be impossible for anyone to eat, because he's god, he can do anything. Think about it

Your reasoning is faulty. I will examine how God could do as you have suggested and yet stay omnipotent. The only possible way this can be done is if God said I will make a burrito, but I will not eat it. It is not because it is so hot that he can not eat it, but because he has said I will not eat a burrito so hot. He could do it but has restricted himself by his word. So the only answer to how Powerful God is is that by his own restrictions set by his own word. The rest of your argument is also faulty, that God create something more powerful than himself, being a burrito too hot in the first place. How can infinity be overpowered? If God is of infinite power, then Infinite power can not be doubled or added to, only fictionalized.

freethinking, I like the part about Powerful God being restricted by his own words. You are right of course about the infinite property of God. However, as I said above, God says 'Be' and it is. All these terms are meaningless to God. They are vehicles for us Humans to attempt to explain God. Yet nothing in the universe exist without his permission. His design dictates whether something is 'too hot' or 'too eat'. But since he is God, he certainly can change laws, His design at will. This has nothing to with infinity, but goes, I agree, a long way to explain the concept of God. Moreover, God is Merciful, Compassionate and Benovalent. It of these attributes that He chooses not to change His grand design so the Man can continue enjoying discovering His Laws. So as I have said, burito or no burito, too eat or not to eat, too hot or too cold, are human limitations of what they are. If you are applying these to God then you tend to belittle His perfection to that of a mere mortal. This contradicts God Himself and a need for us to believe he even exists. Be and it is! This is God, who are we to question?

So youre saying that God cant do something? God is all powerful, so he definitely should be able to surpass infinity. The question is basically, is God so powerful that he can defy basic logic? If he is all powerful, he should be able to, but alas it seems impossible

God is very giving. I think he'd give the burrito to Satan.

Nothing to think about, God says Be! And it is ! Simple as If he so wills he can change the laws of nature, physics etc to suit HIS wish. For us humans, what we see is HIS grand design of the universe and everthing within it. It is out of His Mercy and Benovelence that we have been given a design and a path to work out HIS laws. If HE so wills HE can change them at will and we humans would be none the wiser than we were at the Stone Age. There is no need for God for such laws, but there is for Humans. So my friend your question does not arise, for God can do both the latter and the former but due to the attributes described above, this statement is self contradicting. For God to use a microwave in the first place is not necessary, to place an item as 'so hot', is defined by God Himself of which we have no guage. For God to eat is again his own specific design beyond our pale. For if he chooses to have a need to eat he can. But why would he? I mean if you had 30 mins to do certain errands but a sun was out and you wished to walk, you know you do not have enough time, you would have to take the car!. Be! And it is! This all that needs to be known about God, in this sense.

Well surely if we were created in his image he would have to do some of the things we do? If we are created in his image, he probably didnt go "well maybe they need inside organs too, even though I dont have them"

Many ifs in that statement and these too are under His grand design. You and I are mere spectators of miraculous perfection.

Could God even eat? That is a continuation to this question.
