How satisfied are you when you try the stictched garment your tailor has made

We give our clothes to be stitched only to tailors whom we are totally satisfied with, but even then, there are times he/she does not follow some of our specifications are we become wild after trying out the dress. Our eagerness to wear the new dress is totally collapsed and we also lose our temper, we also curse the tailor for having spoilt the material given for stitching. Sometimes of course alterations can be made but there are times when nothing can be done. This has happened to me many times. How well does your tailor satisfy you? How often do you change your tailor?

Hi Yogambal, I experienced this years back. The clothes looked good in the books or on the mannequins; however when they were made, they didn't fit so well, or looked that good. And it was such a waste; I still had to pay the tailor, and took the clothes home. I never wore them, and usually gave them away. So I would rather buy ready made clothes from the boutiques or malls - if they don't fit me or look good, I don't have to waste money buying them.

I am fed up with tailors in Chennai. I wonder this is happening in every place. Many of my friends also have the same problem. Many tailors won't stich on time. They won't stich properly and get irritated when we ask them to alter. Once I bought a very expensive salwar material and gave to a tailor nearby my house. I wanted to stich it in a special way as per the latest fashion. I gave measurements to the tailor and clearly told him what to do. I even had dreams about wearing that dress and was waiting for the day to collect it from the tailor. I got a shock when I found that he has stitched in a different way. The worst part is that I could never make him agree that I have told him to stitch in a different way. He said taht he has stitched according to what I said. Horrible experience!

I am very choosy when it comes to dresses and tailors. I prefer wearing dresses that make me look prim. So i don't go back to the tailor who has disappointed me of his/her tailoring skills. Fortunately i have a good tailor who is very considerate and knows my dressing needs well. Recently i came across a tailor who comes home, takes the measurement (or you can give him the previous measurement), collects the material and delivers it back after a week or so. And the best part is that his charges a re pretty nominal when compared to the traveling expenses i generally end up paying to the other tailor
