Do you say things on myLot, that you wouldn't tell your friends in person?

I'm just wondering how many of us confide in our myLot friends with stuff that we wouldn't tell our personal friends. I've given this considerable thought, and have come to the conclusion that we may find it easier to tell our computer our problems, than tell our friends. What do you think?

Definitely. I have always found it easier to communicate via the written word ever since I could write anyway; I used to keep a diary as a kid and share with it all my secrets which I would have never spoken to anyone about. I don’t keep a diary as such anymore but writing is what I do and yes, my innermost thought and feelings are expressed in my writing and in regards to MyLot; I don’t know what it is about this place...I made real friends and have opened up to them so readily; anyone who knows me well realises that I don’t do that easily in the ‘real world’! I have visited and joined other forums but they are not the same, here what you see (or should I say what you read) is what you get! So I would say yes; for me it is a lot easier to express myself using my computer!

Totally agree paula, and whatever advice I get on myLot, it will never embarrass me, where if a close friend said the same thing...hmmm ! Thanks for the response.

i get to see discussions like that most of the time and yet i dont blame these people. here i find different sort of advises and responses that would help out a person without resorting to looking at his eyes being criticised and judged which sometimes you get from familiar friends. happy mylotting, ann

Exactly, tigeraunt, and the advice a personal friend gives could sometimes offend and ruin the friendship. Thanks for your input.

I do have a tendency to open up my stories (as you have seen) to the comuter-to vent my worries or let out what is bothering me. Not that my friends don't knwo this either, but I do take a degree of comfort here as well. Sometimes your friends will soften the blow and say the things you want to hear to make you feel better. The people on Mylot may do the same, but what I really post the deeper, more emotional topics for is to see how similar my troubles are to other people, and to get an array of advice I may not have heard before. That, and some people offer some tough love here too....

Sometimes, the advice our good personal friends give us is what they think will help us emotionally, or is what we want to hear, whereas here on myLot it's from someone who only knows us from the Internet, so it will often be more to the point, and more useful.

Yeah,I do completely agree with you.I have never thought about this. But,yeah here you can tell everyone things and most of the response that your mylot friends give are encouraging in nature, but in real life, their are many friends who try to bully you by discouraging you. So,you can rely on friends on mylot a lot. Nice discussion..

Hey jimmy, you also know whatever it is won't be brought up again unless you want it to. By the way, cute picture in your avatar. Thanks for the response.

Yes even I have felt so. It is much easier to tell things here on MyLot than to our personal friend. For me I do not know anybody in person here on MyLot so it does not matter to me when I share things which I normally will not discuss with my personal friends. Also I feel that whatever we read on internet we tend to remember only the things and not the people who told them, so whatever I am telling here nobody will remember, say 6 months from now, that who actually said it. I do not know but this is what I feel.

Well I totally agree with you g_vickie. You feel like you can tell something personal to someone online, and never have to worry about running into them in person. Thank you for responding.
