Do you go to work for a paycheck or for a need?

This might sound odd so you have to read the whole thing...LOL Everyone needs money and a paycheck I know, but did you choose your job not only for the pay but the actual need of fulfilling a purpose while working. Example, people in healthcare want to help others.

I go to work because I need to feel like I'm contributing to not only my household's financial well being but because it gives me a feeling of self-worth. And while my profession isn't in, for example, the healthcare industry where I'm helping others by saving their lives, I'm still providing a much needed function for my employer and my co-workers. Everyone who works is doing that, at least if they're actually doing their job. ;) So I'd say I do both.

It's easy to spot the people who are at a job solely for the paycheck. Isn't it? Thanks for the reponse.

I know understand why people used to say find what you love and work in that field. And you are right we are also forced into holding whatever kind of job for survival purposes. Good luck to you and thanks for responding.

My wife is a nurse and she does it for the patients but when she gets paid its compensation from the hospital. I don't work at a job per say like clocking in and having to deal with office bs but I do have responsiblities for writing for clients and I keep a professional attitude.
