Hours of Television

Hey guys, Over the summer, I started to realize that I tend to watch a LOT of TV. The average American spends 7 hours of his or her life watching TV and thankfully, I'm not the same. I usually spend up to 1-2.5 hours of Television on the weekends and about 30-60 minutes watching on weekdays. I'm curious as to seeing how others compare with me. Do you watch more or less than me and it would be cool if you specified how much TV you watched. Thanks! All responses appreciated!

Well, are we talking about how many hours the TV is ON in my house, or how many hours i am actually paying attention to it? LoL..as i often leave it on for background noise when i am surfing the net or reading, it is on almost all the time when i am not in work or sleeping, but i probably only pay attention to it for maybe an hour or two aa day, depending on the day of the week and what tv shows are on (a there are a few i am highly devoted to and watch every week) and i might watch a few hour long shows in one evening. I think you had a typo there, as 7 hours does not seem like much tv to me LoL..i watch more than seven hours in the corse of a couple days, let alone my lifetime.

hi fruitcakeliz, thanks for the response. I didn't really think about whether I was asking people if they paid attention to the TV or if they left it on in the backround. Now that I think of it, Im probably asking about how many hours they spend actually looking at the TV. And yes, I did have a typo there, I meant to say 7 years, haha. I do hope that I will be able to cut down on my TV time though, the summer is ending and it is time to get into shape.

7 years? wow...really? That little typo certinly made me think about my tv watching habits more carefully. Makes think think of all the productive things i could be spending 7 years of my life doing instead of watching tv.....granted i am not ready to get rid of my tv LoL

haha cool, 14 hours? I actually find TV exhausting after 3 hours and I can't stand watching anything else. It is hard to stop watching something when its good though. When you refer to watching TV, are you talking about actual TV channels or DVD's? Normally, for me, when there isn't anything good on, I pull out some DVD's. But that's hardly the case. Cable has so many channels these days that it is almost impossible not to find something decent on. Thanks for the response.

I don't generally watch tv during the week. Instead I prefer to relax after work with a book or by knitting. Generally, I'm normally out most weekends as well, catching up with family or friends. I'd watch a maximum of 2 hours of tv on the weekend. Because I don't watch much tv, even my partner has gotten out of the habit of turning it on during the week.

If you're working you spend less time in watching tv but if you have no work to do and you are only in the house, watching tv is far more or less takes 4-7 hours a day.

I'm a student staying in hostel. I'm able not to watch TV at all for few months. But when i get back to my home, i will stick to the TV. The time i spend can be very ridiculous. I watch all day long until night. I think i spent average 16 hours a day. But when i came back to the hostel, i can easily switch back my behavior. Sometimes, it's the environment and situation that influence how we spend our time, like me.
