This is a saying I have heard many times since my school days. I have thought about it in the past.Recently I heard it in the radio and I thought of sharing it you. I still have problems understanding the meaning of the phrase. I understand that there must be friendship in love and vice versa to some extent, but do both of them go hand in hand??

When you talk about pure love its right. Love is not the opposite genders love always. You can love a female friend if you are a female or you can love a male friend if you are male also. Actually love has nothing to do with gender.

somehow there is a grain of truth in the statement. it is true that there must be friendship in love and love in friendship. however, i agree that love is friendship, but not on friendship is love ( if we mean by love as intimate or passionate). friendship is different from love when it comes to looking at the other. the degree of affection and passion is varied for love and friendships. i read somewhere that the highest relationship is friendship. i think so.

Love usually goes away with time. But friendship does not die.But well there is some degree of love involved in friendship as well, isn't it? I mean one loves his/her friend, right? Maybe not in the actual sense of the love concerning soulmates, but love is definately involved.

I doubt there can be love without friendship but not always does friendship lead to or need love to continue. Both are very 'heavy' words and have lost a lot of their real meaning nowasdays. Everyone is friends with everyone else these days but are they really? Anywhere you go everyone calls you 'love' too and that's out of context most time.
