Obama said that no one making less than $250,000 a year would see even a dime in increased federal taxes. We have already documented examples of this pledge being broken, but here's another one.
‘‘SEC. 59B. TAX ON INDIVIDUALS WITHOUT ACCEPTABLE
HEALTH CARE COVERAGE.
(a) TAX IMPOSED.—In the case of any individual
who does not meet the requirements of subsection
(d) at any time during the taxable year, there is hereby imposed
a tax equal to 2.5 percent of the excess of—
‘‘(1) the taxpayer’s modified adjusted gross income for the taxable year, over
‘‘(2) the amount of gross income specified in section 6012(a)(1) with respect to the taxpayer."
Unless every person who qualifies for this new tax (and the myriad of other new taxes under this "reform" bill.. By supporing it, Obama is breaking his tax pledge.
In other words, Obama has once again proven himself a liar.

I think most people who voted for Obama understood that there may be some type of penalties along with inducements in any health care bill. This was debated among Obama and Hillary. It seemed the penalties Hillary had in mind were likely worse than this. A health care bill must include something to intice everyone to be ensured, better this than throwing a person in jail for no insurance.

Not if they believed the lie he told in the final debate. McCain continued to harp on him over the fines assessed to people who didn't purchase health insurance and he said there wouldn't be any fines. Everyone who had heard his earlier speeches knew he was lying through his teeth, but his minions believed every word he said that night.

I think the biggest tax impact will come from the tax hike to be imposed on businesses which do not provide health care for their employees. They will not absorb this tax but merely pass it on to the consumer, most of whom make less than $250,000 per year. As always, the poor will actually bear the brunt of the burden in the form of hidden or passed on taxes.

In fairness, Obama never promised he wouldn't raise taxes on businesses making
