I am currently residing in the UAE and I really want to visit Rome. Can anybody give me some tips on how to secure a visa for Rome?

I am also in U.A.E dubai same as you. Im also interested to visit Rome for reason that I want to see the many historical area, experience the elegance of its culture and witness the exquisite artistry. Moreover , I want to visit the Holy Land. I believe in the touch of the devine representative. And recently, I have known that there is one agency in Wafi mall that will help you doing the Visa for 200 Dirhams only. Try to visit Joint Visa Application Center , Level 2, Falcon, Phase 2 and ask for some opportunity for your travel. Furthermore, please take note that your UAE resident visa is active within six months of your planned date to travel. This is for them to make sure that your purpose is basically just for a tourist trip. :) :)
