It's hot!!

Today is a very very hot day! Probably the hottest we've had all summer. It's a bit humid too.
It couldn't have come at a worse time for us. We're flat broke and have absolutely no gas in our vehicles... just enough for hubby to get to and from work. So the kids and I are stuck home.
We have no a/c, no kiddy pool. We don't even have a hose hook up outside!! Ugh!!
So I set out a few buckets, filled them with water, gave the kids some soap bottles, and a few water guns. They're having a great time and they're all soaking wet!!
What do you do on hot days?

I spend last two days at home, lucky to have air condition. I use it only when is extremely hot. I spend most time in my bed due to bad headache...
yesterday was 95F in Chicago......maybe 88F today....

you poor thing... that sounds miserable. I'm sitting here in the nice air conditioned condo thinking that perhaps I should pull on a jacket. I think that you are a very resourceful woman. Your kids are lucky to have such a creative mom. Its amazing what mom's come up with when they need something. I hope that things cool down quickly for you, but in the meantime have fun at the water fight. Sounds like a blast!

its been very hot here (sunday it was opressively humid!) and is supposed to last all week. on the days that i don't go to work (the a/c there is extremely cold - cold enough to have to wear a sweater!) i hide in the basement (i have my craft stuff down here and am working on christmas presents). my kids are older, so its not such a big deal.

it's disgustingly humid here too.
most years,i set the pool up..but this year i've decided not to to save money.
but..a good tub with ice cubes works too.
although i'm tempted to buy some super soakers

they get out their kiddie pool and trot thru that. Some years we'll have a slip'n slide and they'll run thru that or the sprinkler. They even like watering down the patio and stompling thru that and making footprints.
I hope things are better temperature & money wise this week ((Hugs))

ugh tell me about it! i worked out all day on my pool and i thought i was gonna die!! if its a really hot day the pool is always nice (when its working and clean) but otherwise i end up staying in a lot because i cant take the TN heat.. i can take floridas heat fine but not TN.. i feel like im melting and suffocating!

Hello,
I hate to stay in the heat. sometimes I have to walk to the store that close by my house, just to get cold or have some fun there with my kids. Or walk to the park

If I am at home then I stay ion the garden in the shade or under the ceiling fan in my bedroom. I do as little as possible. That was a great idea to do for the children. I bet they just enjoyed themselves so much. I do hope that things are a bit better for you now.

It was really hot yesterday where I live too, I think it was the hottest day in this summer so far.. Oh I know why! I just checked out your profile, you live in NY, I live in MAss, that's why ;-) I htink you will probably agree that the summer has been crappy, lucky to have couples of those days (if you are fan of summer ;-)) I personally hate the winter and always want the summer so I won't complain at all when I get the hot days! And I will have a lot to do outdoor like going to the beach and stuff :-)

We have several rainy days here so it is not so hot, but I know in very hot days we will feel bad. We like to stay in rooms with air-conditioning to enjoy the cool air. Most of my friends want to have icecreams in summer. Also, avoiding to go outside is quite necessary.

Our side during this period is particularly hot,the whole I do not want to go out during the day,in addition to shopping and had to do something out of this good weather or less to avoid heat stroke.

We are in the same boat as you! I did about the same thing today except I filled up 2 totes and the little ones, 2 and 1 got right in and sat there for a good hour! We got some funny looks from people passing by but I didnt care, they were having a great time and getting cooled off at the same time!

I normally run the air and keep the kids inside because two of them has asthma and they can't be out in the hot humid weather without a trip to the ER. Our neighbor has a pool but, I can't even let them in the pool with it being as hot as it is. It really stinks and it kills my budget but, not as much as an ER visit.

Hey kats! Well, what a smart mommy you are! At least you
found a way to keep the kids cool and happy! It is really
hot today! It is the first really hot day we've had! I just
got back from Florida so it didn't bother me as much as it
normally would have because it was scorching hot there! But,
now that I'm home and inside it's uncomfortable because I
can't afford to use the a/c! So I'm trying to just sit still
and just keep mylotting in front of my tiny little fan that
is blowing hot air on me!

Shocks, i just couldn't imagine life with no a/c on hot summer. Why don't you try to buy a room a/c? I know that it will just sound pretty noisy in your room but at least, y'all be comfortable with it.
I live in a tropical country, and it's always hot in here if it's not raining. We're used to it, but if it gets really hot and humid, i do turn on my a/c in my room or eat some ice cream if not at home.

On hot days I usually sit inside with the A/C on at my computer. Sometimes, I go outside to do some garden work and can stand the heat for a while.
