Can you handle a good debate?

Can you handle a "friendly" debate? Are you any good at it or do you just take things to a personal level when you have a difference of opinion with someone? For me it depends on the subject, if its something that i feel very strongly about i will defend it to the death but i am always very respectful of other peoples opinions even if we dont share the same one, just as long as they arent rude and belittling.

I love debate; I want to know how high the level of intelligent of someone on the topic is. That's why before you start one you should know everything about the topic, so that you would not go home humiliated. But, you should also accept the fact that trough debate you will have a wide array of knowledge about the topic. So, you must be sports and be open minded and don't take it personally.

Completely agree, some people do take things too personally but thats not really what a "debate" is about is it? I do find that there are a lot of people who like to try and push their opinions on you in a debate and i dont feel that necessary, let the person decide for themselves an opinion on a subject not be forced into it

You know what, I hate to say it BUT NOPE. I suck at debates. It's not because I can't defent my opinion nor because I lack knowledge about the subjects in which I debate, but because I'm too open for other peoples perspectives. I rather hear all ideas going on in your head, than to argue the importance, but I know when it's necessary to throw my all into the pot, when I truly believe in something. LoL THANKS
