Is demonizing and insulting the American public a good strategy for Democrats?

I'm truly shocked by the tactics of democrats with regards to hard working, tax paying American citizens that question the current health care plan being pushed by Obama. I've never seen American politicians, en masse talk about voters this way. I've heard them called angry mobs, astroturf, unAmerican, accused of carrying swastikas and similar symbols, and behaving like Timothy McVeigh. The democrats biggest argument against these protesters is this pointless accusation that they were sent by well funded republican groups. I don't believe that garbage but even if you do, who cares? Would that make them any less American? Would that mean they don't pay taxes or vote? Regardless of whether you believe they were sent by someone or not, they are taxpaying, voting American citizens and their opinions matter. I have yet to hear ANY elected democrat denounce the way they've been treated by their elected representatives. Obama seems perfectly fine with voters being treated this way. Do you think this helps democrats? To those who support the health care plan, do you agree with this tactic and do you think it will help to promote Obama's Health care plan? Does anyone think this guarantees that many democrats will be losing their positions in 2010?

Senator Ben Cardin D-MD did actually say that the people coming to the townhall meetings were there for answers and should be heard. He said that their questions were legit. It's on YouTube if you care to see it. Another YouTube video is of a young service man asking a very well thought out and well spoken question of Claire McCaskill a democrat in Missouri, my home state. I am assuming HE was a democrat to. This is transending party lines...I've seen and read many things lately that tell me the democrats are not all lined up supporting Obamacare. I also believe that the White House is using bully tactics to shut the American people up...and make them look like crazy fools. Not that some people aren't crazy fools...lol. But it stands to reason that there are MANY that are speaking up that are solid, tax paying citizens who are being made to sound like fools by the media and the White House. I would even go so far as to say that some in Congress are AFRAID to disagree with fearless leader. I have come to this conclusion from reading articles on both sides, reading comments on those articles, and many many YouTube videos of these townhall meetings in recent days. The request from the White House to report 'fishey' emails was the clincher. Our president is a bully. I can see him sending in 'plants' to disrupt just so it can be said that the citizens there are 'crazy'. Of course the media falls right in line, and you NEVER see the townhall meetings that went smoothly and actually got some questions answered for those attending. This whole situation is the biggest and most obvious smokescreen I have ever seen come out of Washington! The White HOuse (Obama) wants to discredit any opposition, and is using the mistrust the parties have of one another, and the media and the internet to do this. When white house thugs can beat up a little old black man for selling 'Don't Tread on Me' flags at a townhall meeting, a man who was doing NOTHING wrong and saying NOTHING pro or con....and nothing is said about this in the media...it's time to wake up.

Excellent response. I agree with you 150%. I am (was?) a registered democrat but could not and did not vote for Obama. Now I am convinced that my gut feeling about him was correct.

I don't know, people are sheep. I would have thought Bush was enough to wake eveyone up in this country, yet here are with a number of republicans still in congress and a democratic majority. Hmmm, any change yet? let me check......nope. Still a bunch of statists running the show. this country has learned NOTHING.

Oh I don't know xfahctor...I've been seeing a ton of cool and very good trends. I'm convinced that these protesters are just a symptom of the very change we hoped for...though not in the way I'm sure the original bad batch of republicans would've hoped (and maybe this year's batch of dems too, I'm not really sureee). On the net there's this boom in awareness and activity...which has had ripple effects in the bad apples' awareness. I'm not sure if it showed up here, since I've been gone a month and a week here, but did you hear about the politician that wanted to get the FCC to regulate blogs and forums and prevent them from linking to news? Then there's been grumblings and critisisms and veiled threats from Mr. Murdoch (I OWN MOST OF THE NEWS MWUAH) -himself-. CLEAR signs that we're on the right track, if you ask me. I suppose we'll really see/know for 100% solid by time it's time to elect a new batch of politicians and a new President.

I do not think it guarantees any democrats losing their cushy government jobs but I sure as heck hope it does! I do not think there has been a time in American history when American Citizens have been so disdained and insulted by the very people who are supposed to be FOR the people. It is very obvious to me that most politicians (of all parties) are only FOR THEMSELVES.

Neither do I and I find it very difficult to think of him as our president. I have decided to call him the White House (p)Resident until a true President who is for the people is elected.

I know there has been dirty dealings going on from within the White House before. Both parties are just as guilty as the other for dirty dealings. But I do believe in my 52 years I've never seen or heard of...a president asking the public to report to the White House directly on their fellow citizens behavior...something as innocent as forwarding an email! And the MEDIA does not even question this? They have nothing to say? Our president in a naricissistic bully. I realize there are democrats who are just as patriotic and concerned for their country as I am....but I do not believe our president is one of them.

I think many democrats will be in trouble come next election. I find it ironic that 0bozo made much of his community activism during the campaign, and now thinks that same activism is a bad thing when it is directed at him and his healthcare plan. People are getting informed, and the more they understand about this takeover plan the less they like what they see. http://action.afa.net/Blogs/BlogPost.aspx?id=2147486232 http://action.afa.net/Blogs/BlogPost.aspx?id=2147486223 http://townhall.com/columnists/MichaelBarone/2009/08/10/government_health_care_in_stealth_mode?page=full http://www.onenewsnow.com/Perspectives/Default.aspx?id=639550 http://www.myheritage.org/archive/articles/2009/five-questions-to-ask-your-congressman-on-health-care.html http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=106595 http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=106259

i think what people need to do is get the facts about the healthcare plan and distance themselves from the pointless political rambling. i know theirs plenty of web sites where some good information can be found. whatever happens healthcare reform will not just suddenly change over night.

taskr hold on wait a minute here both parties are accused and have said the other side is not American because they do not support different things. Both parties are wrong. What I would say in this circumstance, is Americans are suppose to be civilized and be able to talk to one another. I have watched both sides demean one another screaming in others faces, the passion they have on this subject can be seen on both sides. Is it being non American of course not is it being uncivilized I think so, have respect for others as you would like respect yourself you can have a debate and you can have differences but degrading one another is not acceptable.

Well obviously there are people on both sides who have not conducted themselves appropriately at the town halls. My issue however is with the democrats in congress and the rude and insulting things they've said about opponents of the health plan. When some guy at a town hall acts like a jerk, that's his business. I'm not his boss and I don't pay his salary. When a politician acts like a jerk and insults and demeans his own bosses (that's the taxpayers), THEN I take issue with it.

taskr are you insane politicians do this every single day both the dems and the repubs. But I suppose that you are just going to point out the dems. Both sides of this arena has accused the other side of being non American. you hear the dems more because you are republican and a dem will hear the republicans more because they are dems. The fact is I am independent and I hear the both of them doing it. The repubs think they set Obama up for failure and the Dems think they have tricks under their sleeves, But in 2012 you will see an independent in office because both sides are making arses out of themselves and the American people are truly tired of that.

"But in 2012 you will see an independent in office because both sides are making arses out of themselves and the American people are truly tired of that." We can only hope. I am losing faith not only in washington, but also in the voting population in this country. People are still sheep it seems and will continue to vote for that stupid little "d" or "r" next to a name. I shudder thining about what can happen over the course of the next 3 years, I shudder thinking about what it is going to take to wake that many people up.

think they have every right to express their views on Democrats.
