I have received mail from my boyfriend's mum and was telling that I should be careful when buying sodas in can and other canned goods. Here's the story behind that tho:
A stock clerk was sent to clean up a storeroom in Maui, Hawaii.
When he got back, he was complaining that the storeroom was really filthy and that he had noticed dried mouse/rat droppings in some areas.
A couple of days later, he started to feel like he was coming down with a stomach flu, complained of sore joints and headaches, and began to vomit.
He went to bed and never really got up again. Within two days he was severely ill and weak. His blood sugar count was down to 66, and his face and eyeballs were yellow. He was rushed to the emergency at Pali-Momi, where he was diagnosed to be suffering from massive organ failure.
He died shortly before midnight .
No one would have made the connection between his job and his death, had it not been for a doctor who specifically asked if he had been in a warehouse or exposed to dried rat/mouse dropping s at any time... They said there is a virus (much like the Hanta virus) that lives in dried rat and mouse droppings.
An autopsy was performed on the clerk to verify the doctor's suspicions.
The ugly truth is, even the most modern, upper-class, super store has rats and mice. And their warehouse most assuredly does.
So whenever you buy any canned soft drink, please make sure that you wash the top with running water and soap or, if that is not available, drink with a straw.
The investigation of soda cans by the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta discovered that the tops of soda cans can be encrusted with dried rat's urine, which is so toxic it can be lethal. Canned drinks and other foodstuffs are stored in warehouses and containers that are usually infested with rodents, and then they get transported to retail outlets without being properly cleaned.

Excellent post incredibleDNA. I have heard stories about the soda cans and the rat droppings. I used to purchase can sodas by the flats from one of those warehouses such as Costco or Sams. I haven't purchased any soda for many years. The rat droppings are reason enough not to purchase them anymore, but I chose not to purchase any more because of the unhealthy reports about the soda's contents such as, sugar, artifical sweeteners, and much more.
It is sad that not only our warehouses have these diseased rodents running around leaving their droppings, but they are also in some of our finest establishments such as our restaurants. When caught in violation, are shutdown until the matter is resolved. I think there should also be some sort of warehouse inspection.
Thank goodness that fine alert doctors still exist.

yes, it's really scary because sometimes if we do order sodas at restaurants, most people forget that they have to wipe the can off before pouring it to the glass.

Wow, that is really freaky. When a friend of mine's kids were really little, I remember one of them saying something to me because I didn't rinse off the top of a can when I drank out of it. I guess she had taught this to them at a young age because she was always fearing something like this might happen.
Thank you for sharing this story with us, and making us a little more cautious. Have a great day here on myLot!

i have read about that too. so it is best to always wash soda cans and dont drink on its mouth. use straw if possible.
i just realize this kind of stuff (dried rat and mouse droppings) is very hazardous.
everyone should be aware.
