Patience, lots and lots of patience. When you know she's around, sit on the ground...read a book or something, don't be totally focused on her. Put some food a few feet away from you for her to nibble. Canned food usually works best because they love the juice and it smells good to them. At first, she will not want to come near you, but again I stress, be patient. Feral/stray cats often don't trust humans. They are afraid of them and concerned for their own safety, even if there's no real danger. As time goes by and she's eaten the food once or twice at several feet away from you, then move it a bit closer. Again, don't stare at her though...just glance over your book on occasion. If she knows you're watching, she may not feel it's safe to approach. Eventually with time and patience, she may come closer and warm up to you. Remember, when that time comes, don't move too quickly...slowly reach to pet her and if she backs off or seems frightened, then withdraw your hand and backup a step. With a stray cat, everything has to be on their timetable. Best of luck with your new friend! :)

The best things I can suggest is to sit quietly near where she usually is, speak to her in quiet tones and take your time. It may take several tries before she'll let you touch her. Never try to grab her or startle her...it'll only make it worse. Most times outside cats are very skittish around ppl.

We actually had a stray cat like this at my parents house. What we did is that we fed her ever night. Then once we knew that the cat was going to continue coming back to the house, I would sit out on the porch and wait for her. At first she was timid and didn't know what to think. So for a week or so I would just sit there, and move the food closer and closer to my chair. Finally one day she rubbed against my leg, and I let her come close at her own pace. A few days later she let me pick her up. Hopefully that helps.

That's a tall order, what I do is feed them and don't try to get near them, after a while they get to trusting you, I'm in the same boat too and I've known this one since he was a little kitten, but I got to the point where I put my hand out and he will smell it, I guess so he can make up his mind as to trust me or not but I guess you can say I'm making a little progress!

just being really patient - stray cats are often very nervous (often for good reason). it's nice you're looking after her but it'll take a while for her to start trusting people, i think she'll let you near her eventually although she probably will still keep away from strangers.
