Do you prefer your veggies raw or cooked?

What is your favorite veggie? Do you prefer raw or cooked ones? I like better some when they are raw, other when cooked. But there are some veggies that are equally wonderful raw or cooked but taste very diferently. Such is the case of spinach (which I use with lettuce many times raw) or carrots (I prefer them raw except if I boil them in broth). What are yours? Share.

I also love veggies but I don´t think I have one I don´t like. I do have ones that I prefer though. I could eat a lot of artichokes. And I love a home grown tomato with tender green beans salad.

I prefer my veggies cooked, especially broccoli and cauliflower. I think raw broccoli just tastes nasty. But at the same time, overcooked broccoli is soggy and mushy. I love steamed, soft carrots in my chicken noodle soup.

I agree with you: cooked veggies should be cooked al dente. Those veggies that turn out being all grey are not apetizing at all

Carrots, I prefer them eaten raw too. My grandfather always cooks them but I hate it that it gets all soft. Celery I liked cooked because its still a bit crunchy when it is cooked.

I like cooked carrots when I cook them in broth instead of water and I put them whole without overcooking them.

Hi marguicha, I like all the fresh salad stuff with raw vegetables at this time of year when it's too hot to cook. If I cook vegetables as an addition to a meal I prefer them to have a bit of bite so hardly cook them at all. But I also like vegetables roasted in the oven, shallots with garlic, aubergines and peppers all roasted together in olive oil is delicous.

I do things like that too. They are a nice difference to put on the side of a main dish. They look so beautiful too!!!

I don't necessarily have a preference. I like my veggies both ways! There are some I can eat either raw or cooked and others that I only prefer to be one or the other. For instance I LOVE broccoli both raw and cooked but peppers I prefer to eat cooked. I really only ever eat spinach raw. I never experimented with cooking with spinach. Hmm and carrots I typically eat raw too - although they're easy to cook, my husband isn't a big fan of carrots, so I never cook them for dinner. I typically just eat them raw in salad n such. Yum. I love veggies. I'm actually craving corn on the cob and asparagus as we speak!

Cooked food is preferable, however salads are a regular feature in my home. The only dressing being a squeeze of lemon it is good to build up a strong resistance to infections. If I am traveling salad is my meal. I find variations by alternating vegetable with fruits and greens. Lunch is the only cooked meal then.

Like you there are some veggies that I like either way..celery, tomatoes or carrots are great either way..celery or carrots raw as a crunchy snack or cooked in soups are great. Since I've been eating a lot of salads due to the hot weather I'm eating more raw veggies..like Romaine lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers. As for another favorite veggie...like potatoes..definitely cooked and one can cook them a zillion different ways--mashed, au gratin, scalloped, potato salad, french fried...yum

Potatoes have become my staple food. I love them because of the many ways they can be cooked.

I prefer most of my veggies to be raw. And if I do cook them, I usually only steam them so they are still crispy. I can't stand cooked spinach at all. I can only eat that as a salad. Carrots are much better raw. I don't like them cooked at all either.

I think my favorite vegetable is probably tomatoes (although technically they're fruit). They're good by themselves, as an igredient, or made into soups or juices. There's nothing like a tomatoe fresh out of the garden.

I used to love tomatoes, way back, when they were taken out of the plant. Now they are tasteless. But I do love a mixed raw salad with tomatoes. I love to add onions, they do the trick.

I too like to munch on raw carrots. As a kid I used to eat a lot of raw cabbages too...But it used to make my breath smell bad and I stopped eating them. I also like to eat semi ripe papaya raw. Eating raw veggies is good as all the vitamins and nutrients stay intact. Other than these veggies I like all other veggies cooked. I am not a very salad person except for eating salad cucumber hi hi. I cant even eat tomatoes raw!!!I have never had spinach raw..How does it taste???

I'd rather prefer cooked veggies but if it is vegetable salad like carrots, lettuce, cucumber, turnips, tomatoes I like them raw/uncooked. Happy eating!

I love my salad vegetables uncooked.. arugula.. iceberg lettuce.. and yes spinach is amazing uncooked as well.. these all go great uncooked in a salad.. however.. most of the chinese vegetables I much prefer them cooked. Kale, morning glory.. chinese cabbage.. I love chinese food and the way that they stir-fry vegetables with garlic. it brings out the taste of food so much in my opinion.. my favorite veggie.. not sure.. i LOVE tomatoes.. they're just so amazing.. especially cherry tomatoes.. i've had some in france that just burst in your mouth with juice.. i love cherry tomatoess...mm

I like my veggies both ways I understand that when you cook veggies they release more vitamines and minerals as long as you don't over cook them. Raw is good too nice ruffage good for the system sometimes I even combine cooked and raw together in a salad to me it tastes great. Whichever way one eats their veggies its good to have them everyday of your life they have so many benifits to them from regulating your digestive system to providing much needed vitamins ,minerals ect.. they are also naturally low in calories (if prepared without a lot of butter or sauces). But I must say that for me I have to eat a lot of veggies to fill up maybe thats why they are so low in calories which is a good thing.

I like all of my veggies cooked. With the exception of salad and onions, I cannot anything raw. I even fry smoked hamParma ham or Saint Danielle, Serrano)and my husband is completely shocked and says it is a sin.

While my favorite vegetable is onions, and I much more prefer them raw then cooked. I like all my vegetables raw, accept for carrots. When vegetables are cooked they don't have the same crunchy goodness from when they are raw, and that's what I like about vegetables.

That would definitely have to be raw!! I think when you have them raw or very lightly cooked then you retain all the vitamins, I'm sure that I have heard that somewhere before. I used to eat vegetables when they were over boiled or overcooked and they were not very nice that way, all soft and mushy!! I must try and eat more vegetables though as I'm not getting enough at the present time and I guess I'm a little worried about my health in the long term. Andrew

I would prefer to have cooked vegetables in a meal, raw - like salad can be snacks. I like them both but I always like to have cooked vegetables more becau seI cano do more with it instead of only salad + dressings.

I like both, means carrots, beats, roots, groundnut we ate raw. But leaves veggies we cooked with spices, oil, onions coconut & potatoes. We make cooked veg daily, to make sure all proteins should go in body to increase immune power. We ate chyavanprash too. Increasing lime in food ensures that your toxins in body goes away with urine. So become veggi is like become panda, elephent or gorrila.

Most veggies, I prefer to eat raw, really the only one I can think of off the top of my head that I prefer cooked is potato. I find most veggies just have a better consistency when they're raw. I love raw carrots, for example, but when cooked I think they're disgusting
