Is hate taking over the GOP?

Someone spray painted a swastika on a sign outside Democratic Congressman David Scott's office in Georgia. The African American representative clashed with people upset with president Obama's health care plan. After that clash, he received hate mail, and referred to him as a N-word. Do you think that this type of hatrid will help the people who don't want this program?

Why do you keep posting this stuff with no link? Where's the proof that one of these people did this? How do we know it wasn't Scott himself? Didn't an African American woman fake a noose incident not all that long ago? Does truth or proof mean anything to you?

Thanks spicy.
Still not sure how this connects an entire political party anymore than ACORN goons connect another.

Irish, I know that it isn't easy to defend southern republicans, but this isn't the first time a swastika was used to intimidate people in reguards to this health care debate. I have seen these health care "debates", and the hatrid of these people is running rampant. I don't have to prove to you that this hatrid exist, I can give you link after link that shows this people who are fueled by right wing hate radio, and talking heads on the right side of isle. I hope that you liked your link.

I really don't think this kind of thing is going to help the anti-health care reform movement in the long run. They're telling the same kind of lies today as they did in 1993 but the big difference now is that the other side is fighting back. Then we had the original Harry and Louise scaring everyone into believing they'd lose their choice of doctors and have their care rationed and nobody really disputed them.
I'm afraid in some ways hate IS taking over the GOP. I don't mean the average mainstream Republican including most of the ones who post here but the ones we hear and see day after day like Limbaugh, Beck and Hannity.

Show me where a republican used a swastika while debating with him then. Show me the link between the republican party and this swastika. There is none and you know it. You've just decided that everyone who disagrees with or hates this guy MUST be a republican and the party MUST be the motivation for such hatred or racism. Frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be a democrat who did it just to paint republicans in a bad light like that moron who scratched a backwards Obama or such crap in her own face to make democrats look bad. Congrats on buying into the bull$hit.

Taskr, this is the second time something like this was used during this debate. This sign was painted on the sign after a townhall meeting where Mr. Scott was threatened, and later received more threats. People like John Boehner have defending these type of people. Do you need anymore information? This is the republican south, and he is a African American democart.

I don't really agree with the idea that it is the GOP's fault. It is really horrible that this happened to David Scott, but I honestly think that it won't hurt nor help the people who want this program because this is more than likely just a fringe group of people who are racists who just happen to also be against the health care plan. This sort of thing could have happened without the health care plan, not only to a black congressman, but it could have happened to a jewish politician, mexican, or a white politician. These people just decided to combine their racism with opposition of the bill, its unfortunate, but I don't think it holds much weight.

I know you would love to think so debater, but any given loonie does not automatically paint an entire organization with the loonie brush. John Hinckley tried to assasinate Ronald Reagan... so anyone who didn't like Reagan was an assasin? Squeaky Fromme tried to assassinate another Republican president, Gerald Ford.. so people who don't vote republican are assassins or associated with them?
The reason Nancy Pelosi is losing her tiny little mind, tearing out her hair and pointing at phantom nazis in the woodwork is that the American public are not doing what they are told, they are thinking for themselves. For every extremist on either side there are millions of thoughtful, caring, deliberate people who have looked at this issue and decided this is not the health care reform they want.
The more people like Pelosi rant, the less people are going to listen. Honestly, Pelosi et al are starting to look a little desperate and a whole lot untrustworthy to the average American.

I disagree, if you knew the person that did this, would you want to be known as their friend, or would you listen to them when they tell you something? An action like this instantly ends your orgainzations credability, if this man is part of a fringe group then they will be attack for their actions (and rightfully so).

For cripe sakes will you stop labling this all as "gop" stuff, what the blazes is this countries fixation with narrowly focused blame? it was NUT who did this, HATEFULL NUTS.
[sarcasm] yeh, thats right, the republican and democratic national parties are sending racial hatefull emails and sending thugs to peoples houses. [/sarcasm]
COME ON You are ALL falling right in for it, your being PLAYED like cheap violins. FOOLS! This is EXACTLY what they want you to believe and fight. They DON'T WANT reasonable debate and conversation, NONE OF THEM The Unions, congress, insurance companies, the white house, big national lobbies, NONE OF THEM! And they want nothing more than to drag us down a dark hole of sensless bickering, vicious attacks, misplaced blame, rumors, mis truths, half truths, out right lies, fear and VIOLENCE .
I can honestly say after weeks of watching the "conversation" on the national health care issue, I have never been more embarrased to be an american as I have over the behavoir I am seeing in our government, the big commercial interests and most shamefull of all, US .
The "people" .
Shame on the collective us. After behavior as we have.....no, as we and the world have witnessed, shame on us . We do not deserve the gift our founders have given us. After behavior like this, they would have turned us out on ships and sent us back over to monarchial rule and forsaken us.
So go ahead, blame every one but ourselves, blame the republicans, blame the democrats, blame every one but US for our conduct and blame everyone but us for allowing the transgressions of our government because we the "people" have allowed them to be committed.

I agree with you xfahctor, people have been acting really uncivilized on both sides of the fence and none of it is helping. It has become more of which side is wrong, rather than which side is right. I have watched videos of some town hall meetings and it is just crazy, both sides get out of hand. I understand feeling strongly about the issue, I feel strongly about it, but I'm not going to go to a meeting and start getting in people's face who don't feel the same or start screaming obscenities. And it has nothing to do with democrat/republican,left/right, its both sides that are getting distracted from the issue and making things personal and nasty.

X, but who is pushing these "HATEFULL NUTS" do go to these meetings, and attack the people hosting them? RIGHT WING REPUBLICANS.
I do agree with you that both sides are wrong, but the hatrid that is being pushed on the rightside is going to lead us down the same path it did in the 90's. Do we need another Oklahoma City? Do we need milita's rising up around the country? We need people to sit down and talk about our differences, and work out our differences. We don't need people yelling louder than anyone else, and using hate (on either side) to push their agenda. And, we need to hold those that are sending the people to do their dirty work, accountable.

X, I am from Ohio, and we know all about the Michigan Milita, and Timothy McVay was a member of that group. I am not blaming the milita for what happened in Okahoma City, but they talked about attacks like what happened in Okalhoma City. There are many people who can be influenced by groups like this, and can do what these groups want them to do without ever telling them, or even ever meeting them. Today we have the internet which can spread these views faster, and with NO accountability.
