Personality doesn't fit into the work

If this is the sentence from your boss, as a comment on your recent work. Background: after one colleague left and you took over her job, you've been doing 2 jobs for more than one year, no salary increase, the boss is not satisfied with your work for quite a long time and then say that you're not suitable to work in her department because of your personality/character. She wants to make you work in other department, and she promises to help.

So your boss wants you transferred to another department in your workplace, and will help you learn the new work? I'm not sure if I'm understanding. I definitely think your boss has been taking advantage of you, but you're not dumb, you know that. It's just not right for you to have taken on so much extra work with no increase in pay.

What has got personality got to do with work in the first place?? It all depends on what u are working as, and that is not your original department in the first place at all.. JUst ignore what your boss tells u, because i think he's just out to exploit u.. Since u arer already holding 2 jobs, and he does not appreciate it, why stay there?? Give him the sack, and i believe based on your experience with him, u will be able to get higher pay somewhere in other companies ^_^

Hello, kun, i'm not the unlucky one. She's my colleague. It's difficult for one to change, huh? Especially under current financial crisis. But I encourage her to find jobs while she's still in the company. Better have a job than jobless. Thanks for sharing.

Sounds like there needs to be a job change. If it is in my situation, I'd stick to it and get something better out there, and then leave. Doing 2 jobs for more than a year and not being recognized; something is wrong somewhere. That would be kind of a bummer, really.. And there's another dilemma spot. Work is scarce nowadays and there might be employers whom will give an answer that the financial market is not doing so well and hence, no job rise. The question is, we won't know if it's really true because of the financial situation or that our personality aren't working well with the company image and etc. This is general talk and I'm not talking about any particular company though.. Good discussion, lynette..

wow lynette thats a real problem, does she tell you why she feels your personality isnt right for her department? how are you going to know if you fit into another department. She had you doing two jobs for more than a year without a salary increase.I would start looking for a better job while meanwhile going along with this picky boss until I found something much better. I know you say she promises to help but what about not giving you a salary increase. I think I would start looking for a better job but dont give up your current one until you latched onto another job.

I'm not the unlucky one, it happens to one of my colleagues. The boss said that her personality's too quiet, not energetic enough for marketing. She's been frustrated. During the economic slowdown, it's difficult to find a better job I guess. But she's working on it. Thanks for your suggestion.

That does happen in any job. It would be just unfortunate for the employee and I think that would be unfair or that he/she would be underemployed because he/she does jobs and tasks for two people and yet he/she is paid for only one. If there is going to be a transfer that will happen, it would be great if she also has a raise on her pay. That would be the best way to go about it.
