This really has to go into the "Say it isn't so!" column but I've heard it and now I've read it...my state's former crazy Senator Santorum is planning to visit Iowa in the fall. Yep, the same Rick Santorum who equated gay marriage to polygamy, bestiality and pedophilia may be considering a run for the GOP 2012 Presidential nomination.

Can anyone believe he'd get a single vote?

Yes I saw that he is "testing the waters". This past election has changed me from a party voter to a best person voter regardless of what party they represent. IMO both parties have an overflow of people with no integrity and have no regard for "We the People".

Santorum is one with no integrity, in my opinion. He pushed tort reform for everyone else while he was involved in a lawsuit filed by his wife against a chiropractor in which she was awarded six figures. He was living in the D.C. area and charging Pa. for his kids homeschooling somehow.

I must admit that I don't know anything about that guy, but as a lifelong registered Republican voter, I can promise you that if he really did say those things about gay people, he will not get my vote in any primaries or elections.
I truly hope the the GOP is able to recruit some VIABLE candidates and not someone plucked from the lunatic fringe. I really don't have much confidence in that happening though, and will vote for a Democrat or a third party candidate before I vote for some hard core fundamentalist. They annoy me as much as the MoveOn and Code Pink nuts.

You know, judging from this response you and I aren't as far apart as it may have seemed. Gee, still want to shoot me in the face...lol? I know there are extremists on both ends of political stick and I don't like and would never support either.

Kitty, I hesitated about putting that sentence in there about the "shooting in the face" bit but I wanted to clear the air because I really didn't think you were like that and I'm truly sorry for mistakenly thinking it had been you who had used those words. We DO agree on more than we disagree, believe it or not! BTW, I still think Peterson is a creepy killer!

Do you think we could be friends again even though each of us is prone to having political discussions that we will disagree with?
I did finally see that Santorum guy on Fox News, I forget what he was even talking about, but he didn't impress me at all. When asked if he was running in 2012 he just kind of hemmed and hawed, without answering the question one way or the other. I don't like him.
If the GOP ever wants my vote for their candidate for ANYTHING ever again, they will give me better choices than they have done for the last few years. You know I voted for Bill Clinton TWICE and even voted to re-elect Hillary to the NY Senate despite the fact that I KNEW she had no intention of completing her term, but the guy running against her was such a complete repulsive idiot that I had no choice but to vote against him. He actually talked trash about how she looked in her HS yearbook picture! As if that had ANYTHING to do with ANYTHING! He was also an adulterous lecherous cretin if I remember correctly. I didn't want to vote for Bush in 2000, but I can't stand Al Gore or his "Let's censor music" lunatic wife Tipper. I REALLY wanted to vote for John McCain in 2000, but I never even got to vote for him in the NY Republican primary. In 2004, John Kerry struck me as an elitist snob who had no clue what it is like to be a normal American, and his nasty, crazy, stuck up wife made a horrible comment about the Grenadian people after hurricane Ivan destroyed a huge portion of the island (90 % of homes were damaged and/or destroyed) so again, Bush was the lesser of two evils for me.
Aside from John McCain, the only other Republican politician that I ever REALLY liked was Ronald Reagan.
I should probably change my party affiliation, but I stay in the hopes of one day being able to vote for a decent person in a primary or at least try to keep some of the real stinkers from getting past the primary stage.

That was one politician I really could not stand. Usually, I just don't like their policies but with Santorum (as with Cheyney & to a lesser degree, Palin)I just didn't like them and knew that I'd never want know them on a personal level. Santorum had that arrogant "Cheyney sneer". I can't imagine who would vote for him but in a free country, there's always somebody ready to throw away a vote. Look at all those folks who voted for John Edwards in the last Democratic primaries.

I had to laugh when I heard this one today. I couldn't believe the man that was beat in a district that he owned years ago, actually said that he didn't want to run again for office because he couldn't live on a congressman's wage. He actually said this, and that he couldn't afford to put his kids in college on a congressman's wage. So I guess that he figured that the president makes alot more than a congressman, so he will run for that. I wonder how many people would vote for a guy when one of his primary reasons for running is money (atleast we know one of his motives off the bat).

I know what you mean about the avatars, the picture on mine is really ugly, but on the brightside, I have had no problem find my responses.
