Probably a ton of energy! I forget how many times their little hearts beat per minute, but it is a lot. It seems that sometimes, one male will try to dominate a feeder and run others off.1 person likes this

I have fed birds here for around 8 years and there seem to be more this year than ever before. The feeder is emptied every day and it's never been like that before. Sometimes they seem frantic to get to the food. I wonder if they're preparing for a hard winter?

I have a bird feeder outside the window. Some cardinals have nested in the shrubery there and so they feed and live around close. It's fun to watch them. I've watched their babies grow up this season!
