I know it is early but have any of you thought about christmas shopping? I actually have and thought about what to get the children, I would just like to get it done and beat the rush. As I type, I am looking online at a few stores and what to get these little tykes. I will be getting a check in the next month and thought I would do it with that money and still have money left to live on :)) Then I won't have to worry about the hussle and bussle and when it comes time, even if I need something last minute it won't break the bank. How about everyone else? Even thinking of it yet!!! lol

I am there with you. I start my Christmas shopping in September and I am usually done with it in November. I had the crowds on the highways and in the malls. And now, K-mart has reopened it layaway department, I will not have to look for storage at my house until I pick up my merchandise. To shop early is a great way to take the stress out of the holidays.

I like that Kmart has a lay-a-way and Walmart should reopen theirs because many of us can't just go and spend 200 a day to get everything that we need. I know some stuff I had to hide at my in-laws so my son can't get into it but atleast i now i got it and its done. NO MORE STRESS!!!! viney...I usually wait to get my greeting cards or make my own but the stocking stuffers and stuff like that i do wait and get for the kids and my decorations or look into like the christmas catalogs at places and online. thanks both for posting.

Hi Angelgirl, I get what you mean. To shop the earlier is suppose a way to plan ahead. You can have more time to choose for your Christmas gift. If there is a sale, I don't mind to shop early. But there is another few more months to go for Christmas, perhaps there aren't many things we can buy that are related to Christmas gifts. Says like you want to look for some Christmas greeting cards or Christmas socks or other gifts from Christmas theme, you will hardly get it now.

Yup I watch sales all year long and pick up things that I know I will be able to use for a couple diffrent people in case I forget who I bought it for...lol... we have a ton of kids to shop for so when things like Barbies and Games or other toys go on sale or even clothing I pick them up then. Not only is this cheaper but it spreads out the amount of money I spend so it is not all going out at one time. Do i buy too much? Sometimes but then again I can always save stuff for all the Birthdays we have too. I always have stuff in the closet which is good to for surprises like extra kids (We have brothers who date a lot and sometimes like last Christmas one's girlfriend brought her two kids and I at least had something to give them each instead of them just watching all the other kids open stuff) or people stopping by out of the blue. I save all the money I earn in places like this though for Black Friday so that I can buy the bigger things that always go on super sale around that time.

Yes, we have alot of kids in our family also and I also feel it saves money in the long run, because I used to "rush" at christmas time to find money to get things and then I never have it or let some bills go to do the shopping and I don't like doing that. You never know about that time who will come out of the wood-work huh :)) lol.

I've been thinking about Christmas shopping for quite some time now but I'm not quite sure how I want to do it yet. I've really planned on just buying some things now and then if I come across anything that I see that I know someone would like, especially if I can find it cheap. Otherwise, I still haven't made any grand decisions about how I'm going to do it yet. I may wait another month or two before I start making any large decisions.

so i have i, i just thought it is coming soon and before we know it many of us will be scrabbling and i don't want to be one of those, especially if the weather gets bad, get short on cash, i still want my necessity bills to be paid and caught up. Just making sure I will have everyone on the list and if I don't know what to get, "gift cards" My large decisions, my son already told me what he wanted so I am good there......for now until he see's something else....haha (he's only 6) thanks for posting and good luck to everyone.

I have given it some thought. In my family, the adults don't spend money on each other. Our rule is that we have to make something or pass something on that we don't want anymore but that the recipient would appreciate. I have enough dryer sheets to make a couple of small pillows and if I learn to knit in time I could make something like a scarf. My stepmom is going to teach me to crochet, too, so maybe I can make something nice that way.

Yea, we don't spend on the adults, just the kids but many of us get for our mom or dad anyhow; especially since on my husbands side they don't work and could use things and she don't do much but read and do puzzles so we get her like the puzzle books, romance novels or anything that pertains to her grandkids and pictures what not. I like to make my own collages or "special" photo pictures and printing them off online and it makes it more a personal touch and pictures more unique, then its just getting the frame for them. hahah Something to hand down is very nice and many like to pass things on now and not when bad happens. Nice idea... by the way, I can't sew or crochet either.....guess i am not coordinated enough....good luck to you :)

The thought crosses my mind every time I see a sale! But I never know what people are going to want - so I end up waiting. I most likely won't start my Christmas shopping until Black Friday. That's when all the fun begins ;-) haha

thats what i want to avoid....."Black Friday" It is getting more and more dangerous to go shopping on that day, then you never what the weather will be like if you live in the states. i really don't know what many will want either, then i also have a birthday in September, November, and the beginning of December so get my shopping done now and may have extras for those also...shew.....that would be nice. thanks for posting.

not only have i thought about it, i have already done some. i hate waiting til the last minute because then you end up spending a fortune all in a short period of time. i like to spread it out over the whole year, but this year, we just haven't had a whole lot of money but i have a little bit done.

like i said, that is what i am doing now and i know what you mean about spending at the last minute, then something has to give and then you have another 6 months to make up for the bills and stuff....i don't want to do that........a ga i n. many people are short this year with the lay offs and closings, i feel that is why i want to get it settled before it comes time and hope nothing happens like to us...even though my step father is permanently laid off right now. good luck and hope it all works out well.

so true. i may have little things like stocking stuffers and goodie bags left to do since you don't want the candy to set for 3 months. I just sat down and thought about it, but its not really that far away and it can sneak up on some us...
