Could you forgive a murderer?

August 13, 2009 7:32pm CST
A slightly controversial topic I know but I am interested to know peoples views. I think my first reaction is that I could not forgive someone. However there are some circumstances where I could almost understand someone wanting to seek revenge. An example might be a parent wanting to get revenge for a childs murder. What do you think??

definitely, but the murderer has to pay - under the law, that is. either he goes to prison or through capital punishment. but he has to admit wrong, too. but if the murderer is someone who kills somebody like a hitler or stalin, not only is his/her act forgivable, he/she is definitely a hero.

It is a idfficult topic and I agree with you about the justification for murder in the respect of killing a mass murderer. What are your thoughts on Capital Punishment? thanks for the great comment

hi pushkin no no I couldnt forgive A murderer even if there might be some reason to seek revenge. murder is murder, you break that law you have to pay the price.Vengenance is mine sayeth the Lord, its not up to us to seek revenge, let the lAw do its job. I mean you just do not take the law into your own hAnds, let the police do their job And relax. what goes around comes around. the evil will eventually 'be punished. we are not the ones to do that.

Like you I do believe in Karma and think that goes around comes around, or at least I would like to think so. It would be incredibly hard to not want revenge and to not feel justice has been done. Do you believe in capital punishment? thanks for great comment

I ever think about it, sometimes I feel that someone who commit murder and regret it sincerely deserve a chance to change or forgiven. However, I always find myself feel half-hearted about it after looking back the horror crime that the murderer have done. All I can say is, I don't have a solid stand about this topic.

Maybe I think i will, because sometimes in some special affairs the murderer has his/hers difficulties, but he/she must take in the law punishment and maybe ligher in condemn according to the special case.

Hello pushkin69, This is kinda tough question. But I think, I can forgive. Though it will take time and need so much prayer. I need supernatural intervention, to say that I need God to give me courage and will to forgive and forget things that had happened. Honestly even in the smallest mistakes that someone had caused me pain. Only Him who makes forgiveness possible. Holding grudges does get you nowhere. It' like a poison that little by little takes you, 'til you have nothing to breath. Taking revenge doesn't changed everything that had happened, doesn't bring back the life that has lost, and doesn't give you peace. It's better to move on, after all life is supposed to be enjoy not to be ruin.
