I'm a bit of a readaholic...yeah, it's true, I should seriously hit the Readers Anonymous meetings..but I can't give it up! I've gone as far as to create my own review blog to keep track of all the books I've been reading. Right now I'm reading Bleak History by John Shirley. It's set to be released on August 18th, and so far I'm really liking it. It has paranormal aspects, which I love, and lots of action! So, what are you reading my mylot friends...and do you write review, or are you just a read and run kinda person? What's your favorite genre? Author?...Series? Feel free to post away, even come back and tell me what your reading next week! I'll respond to all messages.

I am currently reading Strawberry Shortcake Murder by Joanne Fluke. I have been enjoying reading culinary mysteries lately. I sometimes review the books I read, but not always. It just depends on if I have enough of an opinion/to say about it when I am done with it and if I find the time to review it soon after reading it.

I have yet to read that series! I've been wanting to, because they all sound so great and I personally love culinary cozy mysteries! You should try Miranda Bliss's culinary mysteries...The Cooking Class Murders. I love those books, I'm currently waiting to read the 4th one in the series. I haven't written any reviews on them though, because they were before my reviewing days, lol. Thanks for responding!

Wow, I thought I'd read a little of everything but I've never heard of culinary mysteries. What a wonderful idea. I definatly asking about them next time I'm in the bookstore. The closest I've seen is a wonderful book I stumbled across in the church library. I believe it was called recipes and wooden spoons or something similar. It was such a touching story. I even tried one of the recipies and it worked great.

I absolutely love to read, but I am only ever reading one book at a time. Right now the book that I am reading is Wyoming Brides by Debbie Macomber. Prior to that I read Last Kiss by Luanne Rice. There is really not a specific genre or author that I like to read, for me it is more of a go into the book store and pick up whatever book stands out to me at the time. I've never really taken the time to write reviews on all of the books that I've read, but I am a member on Good Reads where I can give every book a star rating and also see what my friends think of the books that they've read, which gives me ideas of more books to read.

I have not read a Debbie Macomber book in a while, but I always thought her books were wonderful in a life affirming way. She captures life and its complexities well. I didn't ever feel like I was reading a book that couldn't actually happen in real life.

I've never read anything by either of those authors. I've been wanting to read books by them though, because of all the good reviews I have read. I'm pretty much like you when I go into a book store. If something looks interesting to me, I'm more than likely to pick it up even if the author is new to the writing world. I've read a lot of debut novels, and have been pleasantly surprised with all of them. I'm also a member of goodreads. I post my reviews there as well, and also on amazon, and librarything. Sometimes I'll even go as far as to post on barnes and noble, target..or any other site that an author is requesting for me to post on. I think reviews help a lot of people choose their reading material, I just like to help them make that choice by giving my opinion. I only ever read one book at a time also. I figure why carry around a bunch, when you can get done with the one so much quicker if you just read it by itself? I know some people that will read 2-3 books at a time, I think that's silly. Thanks for responding!

I'm a reader like you! I'm between novels currently. Still letting the last one sink in! LOL! I just finished ""Pillars of the Earth" By Ken Follett, he's one of the best authors on my list. I would give this a 10 it's awesome! It still never ceases to amaze me how these authors keep track of the characters and story lines! tdemex

I've never read anything by him before! A few coworkers from work keep telling me to read his books...but I'm not sure if they are for me. I'm more into paranormal books, and mysteries, thrillers...romance, stuff like that. I absolutly love Young Adult novels too, and they've been getting even better these past few years. I actually jumped on the band wagon just recently and read Twilight, and was pleasantly surprised that it was an amazing read. I read it in one sitting! lol. Thanks for responding! Hope you come back to tell us what your reading next :)

I just closed Eclipse and will start the last book in the Twilight series as soon as I get home. Until then I will be reading Getting to Got it! Helping Struggling Students Lear how to Learn. It is a book that my mentor teacher loaned me, I am interested to see what new information it has in it.

I've only ever read the first book in the Twilight series, but I absolutly loved it! I watched the movie first though, and that almost steered me completely away from the book, because it was very boring for me. Thankfully the book was ten times better, and I read it in one sitting. I went to work exhausted that night, lol, but it was okay because that book was worth it. I haven't gotten a chance to read the second book yet, what with all these review books coming in, and having a full time job...but I hope to get to it in the near future. Have you read her adult title, The Host yet? I heard from some that it was even better than her young adults, and others couldn't even get into it. I haven't read it yet, but it is sitting here on my TBR pile, along with the other 600 odd books lying around ,lol. Thanks for responding!

Hah! That sounds like me. Before I started swapping books online, I had maybe 20 books to my name. Now I've been swapping for over a year, and I have over 600, and out of those I have only purchased about 30 of them, the rest were swapped. It doesn't help now that I have a review site, and every publisher and author out there is looking for reviewers. I have had to turn some down, but others it's nearly impossible to when they sound so intriguing! My first priority is review books though, because those authors are waiting for someone like me to let the world know what I think. It's my little way of helping them increase their sales. I wish I could dwindle my stack down, but it's nearly impossible when I get at least 10 books in the mail a week, and I only read about 3-4 in that same time frame.

This is my first time reading any of her books, my mom lent them to me. I will be on the lookout for more of her stuff. I am a third the way through the last book right now and I have really enjoyed the books, her charaters are belivable. I also have a huge TBR pile, I take advantage of the two week breaks I have had the past three years of being in school to dwendle the pile and then when school is in session again I always just fill the pile back up again. Have a great day!

I am on the third of Stephen Kings dark tower series and I must admit, its the best books I have read in my life, he takes you on a fantasy ride through manyworlds and many complex characters, and they don't come more complex than the mysterious Roland deschain, he's the best character I have ever read aout, he's exhilirating, his attitude, his talk, he's so good. I can't wait till I pick my book up again and go hardcore on it. I am not sure how many more there is after this but I think there's 5-6 more and I can't believe I am not even half way through.

My fiance has his own little collection of Stephen King books too. I'm trying to collect them all in hardcovers for him. He has a copy of The Cell, but just hasn't read it yet. I still haven't read any of King's books, but I probably should. They are just so intimidating in size! Ahh! Then again, my fiance begged me to read Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles and now look, they are one of my favorites! Silly me, I should just give King's a shot.

My fiance read the whole Dark Tower Series by Stephen King. There are a total of seven installments to that series. He has been begging me to read them, but they just look soooooo long and I'm stalling. I figure that I'm only 22, so I'll get to them sometime in my life, more likely later than sooner. I'm glad your enjoying them! Thank you for responding.

The genres of books I like to read are Adventure, Mystery, and Sci-Fi. I like reading the books based on the T.V. show 24. Because I like the action and suspense on the show and the books kinda mirror it. I am currently reading Angels and Demons by Dan Brown because I like the Davinci Code.

I've never read any books based on a tv show, although I have been reading Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake Series, and they are saying that they will be creating an on tv movie for them. I can't wait for this, because I'd like to see how they portrayed her for the big screen. I am also currently watching the True Blood series, based on the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris. I love the show, although I am a little behind, thank goodness for dvdr! I haven't read the books yet, although I plan to in the near future, or whenever I can get these review books caught up! Thanks for responding.

Hi jenni, reading is one of my favorite hobbies since childhood. I read different types of book different stage to age. When small I like reading fairy tales. I read a lot of ghost stories and romance during teens’ days. Then, I shift my interest to frictions and detective stories. Occasionally I read books which would give off the sweet smell of success My son knows I have great interest in share dealing nowadays. He then bought me 3 books related to trade stocks. I had finished two. I read the 3th book, Secret Psychology of Millionaire Traders’ at the moment. It’s written by Conrad Alvin Lim. He is one of the Singapore’s few successful professional online traders. This is the most exciting book I have ever read about trading, investing, business and life It’s still a chapter left. I believe I could finish reading it after a couple of days. Happy posting and have a nice day!

Kudos to you for being able to read books like that! I can't get into anything that isn't fiction. Unless it's about the Holocaust, that I do read about. I love reading fantasy, paranormal, mysteries, and young adult fiction. Oh, and Chick lit, and romance, and historicals..lol..as long as they are fiction! Thanks for responding!

I'm currently reading The Autobiography of a Fat Bride by Laurie Notaro. She is hilarious (if a bit foul mouthed). I had read a couple of books of hers that followed The Autobiography of a Fat Bride, so when I finished them, I decided to go back and read some of her older books, which is why I'm currently reading this one. I just don't think I've laughed so hard in my life while reading a book. Her life is nuts, and it makes for great reading.

Sounds very interesting! The title alone would have me intrigued. I'm still not finished reading Bleak History by John Shirley, but will hopefully be finishing that one today so that I can start the next book in my to review pile, Laced With Magic by Barbara Bretton. I always love to find other people out there in the world that enjoy reading, as I don't have many offline that do. I recently got my sister to like reading, and one of my best friends..but thats the only two people I have to talk to about books outside of the online world. Thanks for responding!

I too am a readaholic!!! Glad to hear from another of us! NO WAY - keep those Reader Anonymous meetings away from me. I LOVE my books!!!! I am reading Fire and Ice by J.A. Jance at the moment. I love mysteries and suspense and sci fi books. I like action books too. Well, I like just about all types of books except I am not really into the "romance" novels. I just like to have something to read when it comes right down to it. But Mysteries (or those type) are my favorites!

I have never read anything by J.A. Jance, although I have collected some of his/her books. They do look intriguing, but half the time I can't push myself away from my paranormals, urban fantasies, and young adults! I'm addicted to them. I also love books published by Red Dress Ink. They are chick lit, but absolutly hilarious. My fiance wants me to stop getting more books in, but he also thinks it's quite awesome that I get them free from authors and publishers now. Bloggers have also gotten the attention of furniture companies these past couple of weeks. I have a 4 shelf bookcase being sent to me for free, just to review it on my blog. How cool is that? Free storage space for all those books I get! lol. My fiance is even more happy about this, although he's going to have to put it together for me, haha.

I have not yet written reviews of any books. I just like reading them.Maybe I will write reviews some day. Do they pay you for writing reviews. If so I will definitely try to write reviews. In that case, can you mention some websites who will pay me for writing reviews on books. I prefer thrillers or mysteries. My favourite author till date has got to be Agatha Cristi. I am trying to finish all her books and novels. It is really a tough job considering she has written so many books. I am actually reading one of her books. It's name is THE ORDEAL OF INNOCENCE. I am loving it. I will get back to it in an hour or so.

Well I don't get paid for writing my reviews, I just do it for fun. There are some websites that you can get paid for writing review though, such as reviewstream.com, and epinions.com. I'm currently a member of epinions, but I normally just write reviews on all sorts of products there, not mainly books. I save my reviews on books for my own personal website. Epinions pays in increments of 10 dollars, by check..I've already paid out once since I've been with them, but mind you I don't post reviews there very often and it took me a LONG time to earn that. You also have to write reviews in their special format, which can be annoying because I prefer to write reviews the way I want to, not the way they want. Thanks for responding!

I'm sorry to hear that you only read a book because it was required. Did you enjoy it? I have not read that book, but the movie was amazing, as was the sequel Angels & Demons. I used to hate to read required books in school, but always ended up liking the books and finishing them way before all of my other classmates. They used to hate it because the teachers left me alone to read or do whatever I wanted when they noticed that the book that was required was already finished. It gave me a lot of time to catch up on personal reading. Thanks for responding!

I never re-read books! The way I look at it is that there are many many many more books in the world to read, why read something that you've already read? Yes, you may enjoy it, but there's plenty out there that you may also enjoy. So, I've never re-read a book, have no reason to, whether it was amazing or lame..it's not worth it to me.

Hi Jenni7202,I admire your reading habit,I think I can't write review persistently even if I begin to write. Actually, books I read can divide into two kinds, the one as entertainment, the other relates to my study,so I have to read this kind very attentively. My favoriate books are usually about science or nature.I'm also interested in books about science philosophy.

I can't read non fiction, unless it's about the holocaust. I can't seem to get into it. The history of the holocaust is horrifying, yet intriguing, and I think everyone should know about that, because it's in all of our histories. It's actually not that hard to write a review, all your writing down is your feelings, what you like about a book..the pros and cons. I usually write a short summary on what the book was about in the first place too. I wouldn't be able to write a review on nonfiction of say..nature or science, I'd feel like I was doing a book report or research project, lol. Thanks for responding!

I'm probably going to have to read them sometime in my life, just to say that I did. I've been collecting them for that purpose, just haven't brought myself to doing it. I love the movies, they are on my top favorites list. I love all movies that have that fantasy element to them. My fiance thinks I'm funny because most of the time movies like that are geared toward children, but I don't care..I'll love them no matter what! Same with my books, I read a lot of young adult, and they're great too.

Well congratulations on the little one! I can't wait to have children, it's just not in the cards for me right now...not enough money to even spend on myself these days! I've never read any of the Harry Potter books, I know..a sin right? I've watched all of the movies, just couldn't get into the books, which I think is rather weird. I also haven't tried since the first book was released, I tried reading it when it first came out and just didn't like it back then. I should try to read them now that I'm older and I appreciate books more like that now. Thanks for responding, and I hope you're able to find more time to read in the future!

thanks for the congrats and yea the little one wasnt on my list of things to do but what happens happens and im just trying to make it work. now on not reading the books about three years ago i said the exact same thing and always got the big gasp of how dare youness. then when i had run out of things to read in the school library i decided to try again and forced myself to read through the first then ended up reading the others that were out at the time within a week. now someones probably already said this but the movies are good movies but the story has been changed drastically in my opinion thier almost becoming a seperate entity to the books.

"readaholic". LOL. I like that one. I hope you don't mind but I'm going to borrow it. Anyway, right now I'm reading a couple different things; depending on which room I'm in. LOL. In my bedroom, I'm working my way through the 5 books of The Zion Chronicles by Bodie Thoene. They are truly wonderful books. They take place in Jerusalem right after Hitler. Yet instead of focusing on the horror of it all; they focus on the strength. An incredible read that I'd suggest to everyone. Downstairs in the kitchen I'm reading A Brave New World by Huxley. It's one of the books on my "must read" list. I just stRted it but it seems good so far. Have you heard of reviewstream.com? They pay a few cents per review. It sounds like it's be right up your alley. And add me as a friend please and send me the link to your review site. I'd love to check it out. :)

Wow, you read a lot of books at one time. I couldn't do it, I'd just drag my one book around with me until it was done..which I do all the time! I actually have a bag that was sent to me by an author, Barbara Bretton, along with a copy of one of her books too...well anyway, I put the current book I'm reading in that bag and carry it everywhere with me! It's always great promotion for the author too, because then people ask me where I got the bag and whether her books are good or not. I've never tried reviewstream, but then again I'm not worried about getting paid for my reviews. I feel I get paid enough for them by getting lots of free books and great and wonderful readers on my blog. The blogging community is so fun, and everyone is very kind hearted.
