I think the most popular will be Elvis first, and then Michael Jackson will survive the test of time.

I would say Lassie. Lassie has been well known for year's and even kid's these day's still know all about Lassie. And since you said Celebrity, that wouldn't really mean someone in music so I would say if you wanted a human. Jerry Lewis. Or even Abott or Castello.

I remember accidentally calling my neighbor's collie Lassie. He was angry:"She's not your Lassie! She has HER OWN NAME!". I think this dog is already a legend.

Michael Jackson - King of Pop. No matter how famous one will be in future life with music and pop industry but it is for sure that no one will forget MJ. MJ can be inspiration for future generation but no future generation can replace him.

Shakespeare. This is who I think of as a long lasting celebrity, Now if you had said inventor, artist, scientist, each of these would have been someone else.

Because you said celebrity, I'm ruling out political, religious or biblical figures. A celebrity also doesn't necessarily need to be a person, right? Several come to mind, so it's a hard choice, but my choice is Mickey Mouse. Because Walt Disney has world wide theme parks, and I'm sure that many of the famous cartoons have been released globally and in most major languages, that's my best choice.

It is Charlie Chaplin! He is world over. You can go any country and show an old hat, walking stick and torn shoes, any kid will shout "Charlie Chaplin!" Elvis Presley might be famous but not as remembered as Charlie. Charlie also been fondly called by different name variations. Japanese still celebrate some program every year. Charlie doesn't even need to talk to anybody. His actions are enough to make anyone from any country in the world, to connect to him. That's his power! And he is liked by kids to old people. He has no bar, nothing! Ask any music lover, book lover, sportsman, whatever be the profession, all like Chaplin. So he will be the one who will live forever in the memory of future generations! And, there will be other people too!
