To turn or not to turn...(the other cheek)

Who out here has heard a phrase more contradictory to our nature? In these days and times, it seems all the rave to take matters into our own hands, especially when it comes to what's "only fair" for the me, myself, and I of our natures. With so many teachings and beliefs out there speeding through the minds of man, which do we reach out and cling to as our own, and how can we come to that wisdom? Shall we quote the "eye for an eye" saying as a way to justify our evil intentions, or should we check ourselves according to Scripture, and turn that other cheek? I personally find myself to fall into the latter of the two categories, while my wife is nestled comfortably in the other...an interesting match, especially when making decisions as a couple! Don't get me wrong: I love my wife more than life itself, but I all too often find it my responsibility to bring the Mercy to the relationship. So what's your take? Are you a forgive and you will be forgiven type of person? Or do you just throw all to the wind until you are avenged? Just remember, the merciful will be shown mercy (even if it's not from whom you want it...God shows you mercy) but the vengeful tear themselves to pieces... Forgive someone today, and go on as if nothing ever happened. Aside from the freedom you'll find, there is also great peace...and to the peacemakers? Well, I'll let you know later about them. Dive deep!
