Ghost Hunters/T.A.P.S - Is it real?

Do you believe that any or all of what they show on the Ghost Hunters tv shows is real? I noticed a shift in the first season of this show vs. the latter seasons.. The first season seemed to have only an occasional encounter of what they might consider to be related to the paranormal. The latter seasons, however, it seems that darn near every episode has one. Has anyone else noticed this?

When they first started they didn't have the equipment that they have now. So the better the equipment the better the findings. I truly believe what is happening is true. Many times they don't find anything which is disappointing. I also believe that Grant and Jason are good guys that wouldn't be trying to make things up just to have the show on air. Remember they are there to debunk what people tell them is happening. I think the show is great.

On the other hand, anyone can make a show and talk about things that they don't believe in, saying that they are true - although not the best example, look at the first Blair Witch movie.

The reason they do the show is because they do believe from their own experiences. Plus like I said before Jason and Grant are good guys who wouldn't be making things up. To the contrary they will go the extreme in debunking things. I think its all real especially since I believe in ghost after seeing one for myself. People who think the show is fake probably don't believe in ghost or have never seen one. Take care and have a great weekend.

I love that show. I watch it whenever it is on. I think it's real. I saw an episode a few weeks ago and they went to a place in California. TAPS was really upset because the place had staged everything. When confronted the man just laughed. TAPS said it was a waste of time. They were pretty mad. TAPS has been to several places close to where I live. I know people who have had experiences at these places long before TAPS came around. I've only been to one or two places, but they are definitely haunted. I've seen a few recently that they have debunked certain noises by fixing plumbing issues. Basic home improvement issues. One family said they could hear explosions under their house. One of the investigators found out that there is some type of water way underneath the house. I think that they are going to more places now that are actually haunted. The first season, no one really heard of them except for locals. People maybe just wanted the "attention". I'm not sure if that is the right word I want. Also I think some businesses wanted to go on TV to bring tourists to their establishments. What a better way to bring in money. Say your place inhaunted nd have ghost tours. People are so curious that they feed into it. I do think they are for real. Do you have an EVP recorder? Do a test record your house when everyone is sleeping or not home. See what comes up. I have an EVP recorder. I am afraid to listen to it.

I live in an apartment complex, so unless Casper is willing to jump out and speak VERY clearly or VERY loudly, EVP is pointless. Not only will it pick up my loud neighbors' constant stomping and tromping on the floors and walls, I constantly have central air conditioning and two fans running. Without turning them both off and tying my neighboring family to their chairs overnight, it'd be very difficult to make anything out.

I'm not entirely sure what to make of the show. The guys themsleves, at least Grant and Jason are pretty cool and really decent guys. The are a regular fixture around these parts. My daughter first met them at a pizza shop she works at. They now own a hotel down the highway from me and spend a lot of time in the area and spend a lot of time here. Again though, still not sure what to make of the show, how much is staged, etc. But, I'm not about to ask somone, especialy someone as nice as these guys are, "hey are you guys fake"?, lol

heh, I can understand not asking. I have mixed feelings about the show myself for a few reasons. As I pointed out, the show *has* taken a turn in its presentation, but that doesn't mean that it's their fault either. I'm aware of how networks and contracts and ratings and the fame game work, and that celebrity or not they don't always get presented properly or even as they would like to be.

Personally, I do believe that Ghost Hunters/TAPS are real. I find that they do seem very genuine. I might be wrong, but this is just my impression. I don't have any reason to believe that they aren't.

I think, regarding the increase in paranormal accounts it's probably an issue of executive decision. The first season the accounts were fewer and farther between to see if people would actually watch if they didn't find a ghost every time and after that they started handpicking the investigations and only airing the ones where they found something. I'm sure that the investigations that are aired are not all of their investigations since they were doing this long before the SciFi (SyFy ) channel gave them a show. Plus there is the continuous live feeds they do on Halloween night (the first one was at the Stanley Hotel - the inspiration for The Shining - here in Colorado). Those are pretty convincing to me. A friend of mine used to work in a hotel in South Florida and the owner/manager had T.A.P.S. come and investigate there. My friend said they were very cordial and professional...of course she didn't get to sit in on the evidence meeting because she just worked there and I don't think the investigation was ever aired so I don't know what they found.

On youtube there are lots of videos which supposedly reveal that Ghost Hunters is faked, but I have seen nothing really conclusive. It is an exciting programme though, and much better than our UK version which is Most Haunted. Ghost Hunters can really freak me out sometimes, and the guys seeeem genuine. Maybe I'm a bit naive!
