Picture The Stars

Evening Stars - This is a picture of the evening stars, but I would like a picture of the real thing.

Have you ever taken a picture of the stars at night? Last night I noticed it was so clear outside that I could see a lot of stars. I got my camera out but I could not capture any of it, just blackness. Has anyone done this? Maybe you have to have a very strong camera. Or what about lightning, I'v always wanted to get lightning on camera also.

To capture the stars, you need a camera that would let you use a time exposure. You would also need a tripod to keep the camera steady. Usually on a film camera that setting would be "B". You would also need a film with a high ASA.
