If you want to impress your boss, just be yourself, work hard, don't wait for the orders, if you see something needing to be done don't wait for the orders, do it!

Hello, good luck with your new job. If you are dealing with the public in any way, never forget the old ways of politeness. There is nothing wrong with opening a door for an elderly person mum with her hands full, or some person with their arms full of papers and boxes. I would take a few months so try and figure out what really impresses the boss before attempting that. You may be surprised by just being you and being good at it, works fine.

1) First day show up @ least 15mins early and ask for a quick tour before you get on the clock, so you know where things so you can waste little time looking for things. 2) After first day of work, ask boss if there was anything you should learn in your free time to help be better at your job. 3) Let anyone you are working with in close proximity during your first days, that you handle criticism well, and should they notice anything you are doing is wrong or could be done quicker a different way, to just go ahead and tell you. If boss see's you working and talking with others about the job it'll look good. 4) If your willing to work past scheduled hours or come in early, to let the boss know you will do so with no notice. 5) After working for a week or two, ask the boss for 5mins of their time. Where you sit down with them and ask how your performance has been so far, even better if you have a pen and paper handy and take any notes they give, the devotion showed to please them will go a long way. Hope that helps and GL getting and keeping your job.
