My new baby fainting goat!

August 16, 2009 12:27am CST
I just bought a 12 week old fainting goat! I am also a new goat owner! So i'm just looking to talk to anyone who could share stories or maybe answer questions i might have. I have books, and the one thing i've read is you should keep 2 or more goats at a time. We just bought the 1 and the lady told us him would be fine. I've had him for 3days now and he cries when i leave and it breaks my heart! He did start to climb on my back today and he puts his mouth to mine like he wants to give me a kiss. I don't know if this is him thinking i'm his new mommy or what! If anyone can help me that would be great! Thanks, Robin

Well, it looks like not very many people are interested in goats, but yes we've had baby goats before, and basically we treated it as a house pet! I think the hardest part was when we had to part with it, when you do that! Oh, and if it's a male, when it gets older, you are going to have problems because it is gonna show it's male personality traits, so this may cause you some problems! The females are docile, but the males usually show some aggression! I have never heard of 'fainting' goats before! p.s.- Oh, and thank you for that response on the white German Shepherds, I had always wondered about that!
