Do you think The New Moon movie will be as good as the book?

With New Moon heading to our cinema screens on November 20th I ask is the movie gonna live up to the hype? Fans went into hyperdrive last week when a mere 14 seconds of new trailer footage was released. The second trailer that hit screens with bandslam was also lapped up by mad twilight fans. I am looking forward to the movie as I watched the first one and thoroughly enjoyed it. Im pretty lucky as I work as a projectionist at a cinema so I will get to see it a day or 2 early when I preview it. As a general rule of thumb though movies are never as good as the books. So will New Moon live up to the book? Let me know what you think.

I agree, movies are usually never as good as the books, and I think the same will be true for New Moon. I actually saw the Twilight movie before I read the book. The movie was nice, but it was the books that really captured my interest in the series. However, I am still looking forward to seeing how they portray things on the big screen. I will definitely go see it within a week of it's theater release!

I haven't read the book (didn't even know it's based on the book) but I'm looking forward to see the movie. Trailer looked great so I hope we'll finally get a decent new sci-fi.

Ups, my bad I thought you were talking about the new movie "Moon" with Sam Rockwell haha I have no intention to see the new Twilight movie since the first one sucked so hard

Thanks for the comment although I wouldn't say new mmon or the twilight saga were classed as sci-fi.

I don't know if the movie will live up to the book or not, but I've watched the movie's trailer and I think it is better than the first movie. Well, it's not really surprising considering the first movie was a low-budget one. New Moon is one of the movies that I am looking forward to. I hope everyone enjoys it.

Of all the books, I have the opinion that Book 2 - New Moon is the weakest. Unless the movie displays a greater presence of Edward, unlike the book, the movie should have a good chance to please the audience and fans. Many have already fallen in love with the idea of Edward-Bella and less of them in the second movie will not help.

I have to say I haven't read the books myself my girlfriends has read them all about 4 times over. She keeps mentioning the fact that in the book Bella doesn't find out about Jacob being a werewolf in the same way as she does in the trailer. Im going to have to gag her to stop her ruining the ending for me before we get to see the movie.

This Twilight movie is way overrated. There is nothing new really. Vampire loves humans, vampire fighting the wolf, etc. The only difference compared to other movies is that this is marketed for the teens. Anyway, how many vampire movies came out lately? Underworld, Blood The Last Vampire, Thirst and the upcoming Daybreakers.

Thanks for your comment. I would have to say I agree that twilight is aimed more at teens. However I think twilight was very different from other vampire movies and I think this is the reason it has been so succesful. Not everyone will agree obviously but if we all agreed with each other all the time the world woiuld be a boring place.

I've never read the books, so I have the benefit of judging the series on the movies alone. So I have seen Twilight, and I enjoyed it. I heard that in the second book the character of Edward is not a big part of the movie. But for fans of the books, I doubt they mind since they lapped up the second book itself. I for one am looking forward to The New Moon. I won't see it in a theater, but I'll certainly rent it as soon as it is released on DVD. I look forward to seeing it. So many people just don't seem to get that this series of books isn't meant to stick to vampire lore. It kind of bugs me when people slam the books and movie because they think it is too "soft". It was never meant to be "hardcore".

Well, in my opinion, Twilight was a good movie but the book was much better. I expect the same to be true of New Moon, but I can also admit that I am very much looking forward to the release of the movie. I can't wait to see how they portray some of the many events that occur in the book. What I am most looking forward to is seeing how they cinematically portray the Voltari. I am looking forward to seeing how the relationship between Bella and Jacob is portrayed as well. I guess I really can't wait to see if the director's take on the book is how I envisioned it to be.

I SURE HOPE SO! But I highly doubt it! Can you honestly say that you know of many movies that were nearly as good as the books? I cant honestly say that I have, maybe just one or two, which that is pretty sad lol. The books are just so amazing and descriptive and you picture everything in a certain way, and the first movie of this series SUCKED. I seriously hated it! the vampires seemed really corny and not very real, and their movements were ridiculous lol. I noticed they have different people directing and working on the new movie, so lets hope its way better!
