Hi sulsisels, in this area of Greece lamb is not used for kebabs at all, pork is used and the result is called pork souvlaki. Lamb is very expensive and it is served mainly as lamb chops in the tavernas, priced by the kilo, like fish. I rarely buy lamb because of how expensive it is, but can buy pork souvlakis ready prepared in the butchers, and either pork or chicken souvlaki features on taverna menus. Souvalki is traditionally served here with pitta breads. If you need any tips on other Greek foods just ask in your response.

How very interesting..Thanks so much. I am very interested in cooking and just now started cooking "around the world" I am working on a blog and am testing everything first..I would appreciate anything you could tell me..Cooking is a never ending learning experience and I would love to share ideas with you. PM me and I'll give you my email..I have tried Souvalki and it is delicious..Do you have to order ahead at your butcher or is something he carries? Looking forward to talking with you

Thanks for the best response. Yes we buy souvlaki already prepared at the butchers on wooden sticks but they shrink a lot when they are cooked. If you have questions about cooking just pop them in the cooking section and people will respond.
