I guess 73% of Americans are willing to pay more for their health care

I have seen all of these polls of late asking people if they are happy with their health care. And, wheather these are accurate or not, the number is in the 75 - 68% area. I was looking at a recent AOL poll at that said that 73% approved of their current health care. So my question to you is how much are you willing to pay for your health care? Because I can tell you this right now, your health insurance is going to go up, and much more than in the last few years (health insurance has gone up 120% since 1999).

What makes you believe that private insurance rates will go up? One of the areas covered in the pending legislation is affordability. As it stands right now private health insurance is too expensive for the majority of folks to afford.

Spalladino, this is simple economics, if people are very happy with your product, then you can charge more for it. I will be you my dog, that health insurance companies will increase their rates at the end of the year, and they will remind you all about how much you love to pay way to much for health insurance.

And the government option isn't going to cost anything? I beg to differ--with the public option, it's going to bleed taxpayers dry! Where do you think the government's going to get the money to pay for the meager, rationed care that people will receive (if they are deemed worthy of receiving any at all, that is)? To add insult to injury, this public option which taxpayers are going to pay through the nose for, is also going to cover ILLEGAL aliens who don't have any sort of Constitutional rights because they are exactly what I just said they are--illegal. I am not going to see my tax dollars go toward health care for people who are not legal citizens of this country. I'm not being racist; I'm just stating a hard fact.

simple fact is that you are already paying for illegals health ins. The problem is instead of paying for a drs visit for 125 dollar you are paying for an emergency room visit for 550+. The illegals have been here for centuries the whole system has been out of whack forever and a day. So you are saying because some illegals would get some benefits that you are willing to let Americans go without? It is about having affordable health care not free health care. I want the option of a health care system that I can afford and what I get offered is 1379 a month do you see that as being afforable? I dont! I hurt myself at work and now my kids dont have insurance how fair is that? What makes anyone elses kids more important than mine?

@grammasnook ....That Is exactly what I was going to say!! I am not thrilled that the health care bill includes illegals, I dont think illegals should be allowed any services here...if you are here illegally then you shouldnt be handed everything on a silver platter... BUT if including illegals is the only way we can get the bill passed then so be it... And you are absolutely right not only are we ALREADY paying for all of their health care but also their food, clothing, education and everything else...(and what really burns me is they collect every government program they can and then work under the table and collect that money too...They live a LOT better than I do in my own country that is for sure...but anyway....we ARE already paying for their health care and like you said with the new bill it will be cheaper in the long run!

The government program would cost money, but would also allow people to have more than on option. If you ever look at insurance prices, they are very expensive, and close to each other. Please explain to me how this will "bleed taxpayers dry"? I have seen the numbers, and if we just ended on of the wars we are fighting, it would pay for most of this program. I hate to tell you this, but your tax dollars have gone to paying for illegals health care for decades now. So you might want to call Bush and ask him why he didn't do anything. I can tell you that he won't give you the truth, which is that the hospitals, and health care system makes alot of money, and they donate alot of money. Why would you put your cash cow out to pasture? I am not calling you a racist, but I think that you need to look at all of the facts, and realize that the average doctors office visit is $165 per visit, and the average ER visit is $684. If you could control this, would you rather see your tax dollars pay for the ER visit, or the doctors office visit? This is what this argument is about.

That... or the rhetoric about how terrible the insurance companies is much worse than the realities.

btw, according to the CBO, this plan will actually INCREASE the cost of healthcare in the US. If it is going to increase costs, how can you accuse us of wanting to spend more on healthcare? One of the accusations against our current system is it's "The most expensive system in the world"... well, apparently that isn't a problem for Obama, since he wants to make it MORE expensive.

Ted, being a right wing republican, you should know that the more people like a service, the more it cost. All of you anti-government health care just insured the rest of us will pay more for insurance, and cause more corporations to drop their health care.

If the US doesn't come true, the one's who don't like it, they can always come up here in Canada...we've had free health care since my cousin Pierre Trudeau and the liberals started it!

My premiums are 100% covered by my company, though there are deductables and so on. I can pay more if I need to. How much am I willing to? Well I'm not willing to pay for the more expensive plans that the company offers. If they stopped offering this plan, I'd go for the expensive one though, since the remaining choice is all HMO and I refuse to give up my choice of doctors.

I don't know about you, but I am NOT going to work 40+ hours a week and get paid for less than 20. If 0bama's health bill passes, taxes are going to be raised so much to pay for this "Free" healthcare that we are all going to be working 40 hours a week and getting paid for maybe 20 if we're lucky. Our home notes, rent, utilities, car insurance and car notes aren't going to go down. They're also going to skyrocket due to inflation. If 0bama wants to ruin this country and take us back to the stone age days, then he's well on his way.

I hate to tell you this, but who ever told you this, lied to you. I hope you didn't let that person borrow money from you. By the way, Bush already tried to destroy this country, and he almost did it. Obama is the one cleaning up the mess that Bush left us in. Does anyone really want to go back to the last three months of the Bush administration?

i don't agree with this because Americans cannot say they want to pay more for health care when actually they can get discount for such services, i believe the recent problems have been politically or in some other ways motivated and now that Obama has backed out of the plan, let see if the same people will not accuse him of not giving them proper health care problem
