Sequels, are they ever as good as the original? Well the answer is yes, well sometimes. Very often a sequel is an extension of the story for example the lord of the rings trilogy or back to the future series. Unfortunately good sequels are are a rarity and thats not the only problem. Not content with one sequel moviemakers now go over the top and just milk a series or franchise for everyhting its worth. Saw was a great horror movie and so was Saw 2 but how many more are they gonna make we are up to saw 6 after this halloween. Not that I wont watch it I know I will but come on seriously 5 sequels. I suppose as long as fans are prepared to pay afor a ticket they will keep churning them out. What movies do you think have had too many sequels?

Saw is a perfect example. Saw was amazing. Saw 2 was good because it was a different situation from the first story, different characters, different circumstances. After that they got horrible. Last I heard was the plan is for 7 total. Ridiculous. I haven't seen 5 and I won't see 6 or 7 (or 8, 9, 10, infinity if they decide not to stop with 7). Another one is Final Destination. The story was finished, and finished well, at the end of the first but we are approaching sequel number 3 in the upcoming weeks. One of my pet peeves is when They (whoever is in charge) take a movie and rehash the same plot with a new cast of characters and call it a sequel. That is not a sequel, that is a remake. A sequel is when you have one or more of the original characters (and actors...preferably) continuing the story from the previous movie. I loved Halloween 1, 2 and 4. 3 (parenthetically titled Season of the Witch) took some bizarro-world detour away from Haddonfield to a rural farm-town being terrorized by demonic lawn gnomes and Halloween masks. But 1, 2 and 4 were good. 5, 6, 7, 8, 20 .... completely unnecessary.

No I don't think they're ever really as good as the originals. There have been a few maybe that have been good but I don't like the fact that they don't always use the same characters in the sequels that they use in the originals.
