I Have Mommy Issues

So Im in therapy and we started talking about my childhood and how I think that may have affected me now. My mom was an alcoholic for most of my toddler/younger years. She did get help and has been clean for a long long time. I remember my grandmother mostly raised me and they fought alot. I remember my mom cussing my grandma out on a daily basis for years. I think that's why I swear so much. I think me and my mom had a pretty good relationship though. We fought a lot more in my highschool years but i was rebellious against authority at that time.

I think if we all were to be completely honest we will have to admit we have at some point had problems with one parent or another. No one is perfect and therefore, we will all make mistakes in our lives. I don't have a wonderful relationship with either one of my parents but am closer to my mom than my dad. In fact I haven't spoke to my father in more than 15 years. But you are fortunate that your mom did help for her addiction. As far as I know my dad still has not and probably never will. But before you will ever be able to have a stable relationship with anyone you will probably need to come to terms with this issue. It could surely take a toll on your relationship with your own children if you don't.
