The Congressional Budget Office is a non-partisan group whose job it is to monitor and audit the financial impact of bills in Congress. They have no power or authority, they are merely an advisory organization. Historically, their reports and predictions have been pretty accurate. The CBO has reported on Obama's healthcare plan as written in his "Blueprint for Change", as stated in speeches and as written in the House and Senate versions. They report that all will take the "most costly medical care in the world" and make it more costly. Their report says that it doesn't come close to the claims of ensuring medical coverage for all. Not only doesn't it ensure universal coverage, it will end coverage for millions who now have it. "Effects on Insurance Coverage. Under current law, the number of nonelderly residents (those under age 65) with health insurance coverage will grow from about 217 million in 2010 to about 228 million in 2019, according to CBO’s 2 For a discussion of the considerations that affect whether and how various cash flows should be reflected in the federal budget, see Congressional Budget Office, The Budgetary Treatment of Proposals to Change the Nation’s Health Insurance System, estimates. Over that same period, the number of nonelderly residents without health insurance at any given point in time will grow from approximately 50 million people to about 54 million people—constituting roughly 19 percent of the nonelderly population. Because the Medicare program covers nearly all legal residents over the age of 65, our analysis has focused on the effects of proposals on the nonelderly population." ~ Page 4 http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/104xx/doc10430/House_Tri-Committee-Rangel.pdf Why do they ignore CBO reports? Because the CBO proves that Obama and the Congressional Democrats are lying through their teeth.
