I'm sure you have seen a room with a theme. Some people's kitchen are really country and have cows, fruit, old timey replicas that make the kitchen feel homey and "countrified". But have you seen a room that is "themed" and very unusual? In my last apartment I had a themed living room. Let's just say it involved a flamingo lamp with green hair (it was long green yarn). I'm including a photo my sister and brother-in-law took at Graceland during their recent trip. It is Elvis' Jungle Room. So, themes anyone? If you could make up a theme for a room, what would it be?

My "Fantasy" theme is definitely something that might be imagined as having been in Alice in Wonderland. I started to make this room once with someone... Black and white checkered tile floor, orange walls, a blue ceiling with a spiral design painted in the middle (to represent the descent down the hole).... however, because the house ended up getting sold, that's as far as we got :(

Super fun! I love theme rooms. When I was in college I made a joke that it would be great to have a jungle themed bedroom room. When I came home on my birthday my friend had taken the liberty to decorate my room with leopard print bedspread, trash can, throw pillows. This along with the bounteous house plants, and a fog machine. It was something to see.

I don't have any themed rooms in the house actually but if I had the chance, the whole house will be in nature theme there will be animal ornaments or statues, big or small small plants, small aquariums in some corners walls and curtains will have paintings on them with grasses, trees, sands, rocks as soon as people enter the house, they will feel like entering a forest outside though, they won't see much aside from a lot of plants in the front and backyard it's only a dream lol my husband will not let it come true he likes the walls plain as is, because that way if we want to sell the house it won't be hard

I guess you could say my bedroom is "themed" to reflect my wicca/pagan path. You see in wicca each direction represents a symbolism of sorts...the east is represented by spring, air signs, music etc...so on my eastern wall I have representations of that, such as easter eggs I have hanging up in a basket, my audio cassette collection (music), butterfly decorations...the southern wall represents the fire signs, summer, etc...so I have beach kind of decorations, my dreamcatchers--the western wall/direction represents fall, water signs...so I have a fall motif that combines Halloween and fall leaves..my northern wall represents winter, earth signs...so I have a small artificial decorated X-mas tree to give me a sense of the Yule/Christmas season all year..... On my bare wooden floor I have a blue-toned painted pentagram and hanging over it from the ceiling is a black witches hat (couldn't resist..LOL) Hmmmm....you have to admit my bedroom is sure different no?

Actually my kitchen is done in cherries! I love it...but it's not really a themed room.....if I could do a theme room and the situation was right I would love to do a Hollywood bedroom....with lots of red and a round bed....but in my house it wouldn't work....my bedroom isn't large enough! LOL.....if that's a theme then that is what it would be....

I love themed rooms...i try to have some sort of theme when i decorate a room...my bathroom is done in a japaneese oriental theme with bamboo, fans and wroght iron, my kitchen, well, it is kind of mixed theme, i was going for "italian cafe"...using deep red, black and tan colors, but for some reason i incorporated a chili pepper motif as well...maybe i should call it more mexican cafe?.. As for what i would love to do....i would love to "theme" my bedroom, as it is not any particular style yet....but i haven't been able to decide on anything...maybe something from film era of the fifties if i could figure out a way to pull it off..

I bet that is gorgeous, which normally bathrooms aren't! I've got bamboo "night stands" in my bedroom.

I don't really know if what I have is considered fully themed. I have a kitchen that is painted pale yellow and has alot of Sunflower things and even sunflowers wreaths and knick knacks. But it doesn't have the sunflower border yet which I wanted. I have Tigers and zebra pillows and Big and little stuffed tigers and and tiger wall plates and photos and a Jungles wall hanging,I have a leopard bedspread and and sheet/pillow covers. My living room is a little of everything Angels,Indian stuff, and little this and thats. My bathroom has a underwater Fish scene on my shower curtain, I have dolphin, fish, and even a mermaid ceramics. I also have a fish border.

That sounds cool. Although I don't think you'd want to get any ideas from the picture of Elvis' Jungle Room. One can tell it is way outdated.

My sons bathroom was a circus theme when he was little. now it is just a circus...ok..a disaster might be a better theme for it. I want to do the kitchen different...not sure yet.

well, as long as my kids has been small there was no time, or idea of having themes when designing our rooms...but now when they are getting older, I notice I like to design more and I pic certain colors when getting new curtains, or furniture...carpits and so forth. My kitchen should be bright, and I like blue colors in kitchens. In livingroom, it depend on what season it is in the year...in the summer I like bright colors but in the winter I like darker colors...hehe, follow the seasons. Bedroom....well, warm colors that make you feel smood, since it is a room whre you are suppose to sleep anyway.

I girl I knew in high schools parents did a southwestern theme in their living room. They actually had the house built, so it started out that way. The walls were like sand and they even had these little things built into the walls that had little cactus growing out of them. It was different that is for sure.

I guess you can add me to the list of boring people here. My kitchen & house are a lil bit of country & lodge style decor. Though I don't have alot out because my kids like to be curious and destroy most everything I find cute or breakable.

I have seen a red room with Elvis, and baseball in it. I believe that's what it was. It's been so long since I've seen the room myself, and I believe it had records in it too. It's my aunt and uncle's "red room" I believe they called it. Also, on an episode of trading spaces, there was a room that trading spaces re did. I believe they repainted this room, which happened to be the kitchen, red, and then they put clocks on one wall... LOTS OF THEM.

Hey! That is a neat room! I like peaceful done rooms ... Like back porch with bamboo and a waterfall something like that. Maybe one day I will do that back there. This house we just bought a few years back and still saving for huge changes . I have ideas , but so far just the livingroom and that is not even done. I kinda like beachy things with lots of candles and stuff ;)

I've never really had a themed room in my life. when I came to this Island I inherited some antique furniture from my husband;s family and I do love antique furniture. I suppose my style would be English country as I have blue sofas, paintings, huge coffee table and the rest of the furniture are antiques. I was never really in a financial position to change my style. I just have the rooms repainted or furniture recovered. Boring I guess.

Hi there my friend Ambie Pam. The only theme in my house is 'travel'. In my lounge I have two large paintings in frames of tropical beaches. I have all my travel photos in albums and my collection of costume dolls on one of my shelves. In my son's room there is an underwater theme with toy sea creatures. The wall is painted blue to be like the sea.

I am trying to come up with creative ideas for my daughter's room. She is 14 and needs a full size bed now, so we are trying to come up with some themes. She loves martial arts, so I was trying for something very zen, but she thought that was boring. I've looked online, and found a lot pretty themes, including my favorite, a music theme, which had cd curtains, and large records on the walls, but she wasn't pleased with that one either.

I have a girlfriend in Florida who is cray about Betty Boop. Her living room is done up in a Betty Boop theme, with pictures, doo-dads and even a waist-high ceramic statue which serves as a telephone table. She's been collecting stuff for years and what she's done looks really nice. In my first marriage, we owned a colonial house (1705), that had a lot of unique little rooms. I had one sitting room decorated as a 'Santa' room. It was my favorite room. Miss the house...don't miss the man...lol. My house now is pretty much tag-sale hodge podge. Is that a theme?
