As a guest did you ever wore a black dress or blouse in a wedding?some old folks here in the Philippines prohibited guests or entourage to wear this color because of bad omen. Is this a practice also in your country?

I certainly hope not since I'm going to a wedding Thursday and the dress I bought is black!

wahahhaha!okay. anyway, it's just a superstitious belief, part of rural legend and seemed does not sound true in modern times. Actually only old folks believe on that.

These days it doesn't seem to matter. There aren't as many color rules as there use to be. I see lots of people wearing black dresses to a wedding. I live in the U.S.A. and I got married this summer. I can guarantee some of our guests were wearing black.

Wow that's nice for you, at least there's no superstitious attachment when it comes to wearing black dresses in weddings. In some province in the Philippines, old folks strongly prohibited everybody to wear this color of weddings.

It's not "bad" per se, but I definitely think it depends on the time of the wedding. Basically, if it's a dinner and more casual wedding, I think black should be ok. However, if it's a mid-afternoon summer wedding - then a summer dress would be more appropriate. That's just my rule (and just fashion etiquette that I've read on some fashion mags). Is it necessary? Nope. It's all up to you!! I don't believe in superstitions - bad omens and what-not. *shrugs*

I always thought that it was bad luck to wear black if you were the bride, I don't know about guests. I've worn black trousers as they go with anything but never a black top. I'm trying to think if I ever seen guest wearing black and if seen men wearing black suits or trousers and I've seen women wear black trousers or skirts but not tops. Maybe it just something they do unconciously.
