hi mylloters, i want to share my opinion and i hope u can share some idea to this, i am a teacher by profession and had been teaching for 18 years or more . I am connected in a private institution where i am a full time office staff and having teaching load as my part time job, Recently i have watched the news at the tv stating that a different countries are hiring English teachers. This calls my attention coz i felt that due to poverty ,everything is so hard here, thus it gives me interest to leave and go abroad . I am 52 years old and this made me worried if im still qualified to go and work abroad.By this time i am working out all the requirements needed though not so sure if this could be.If u can share something about this i should be thankful , somehow it could inspire me . thanks and happy mylotting

hiluchie you have excellent credentials so you should have no trouble finding work even overseas but I would ask first before coming to the United States as we are in a severe depression here with many many people out of work and the older you are the harder it is to get a job now.Its never been like this before.my own son got laid off last sep;t and is stillout of work, and he is a computer programmer, and he is fifty which makes it even harder for' him. so make inquires first and line up something before coming over here;i imagine there are some jobs for skilled people like yourself.good luck and God Bless

Am I still qualified? Hello Luchie50, you need to simply quit worrying about the economy and just go on over there and do whatever it takes to get the job accomplished. If it's your desire to go abroad you shouldn't allow anything to hold you back. Personally I don't really think that age has anything to do with it. You know we are the ones that hold ourselves back and keep from doing things because we tend to put so many limitations on ourselves. For God's sake Luchie, you are a teacher. So start teaching the rest of us a few things. Show us that anything is possible in life. Step on out there and just do it. Then we can look at your life and say, well if Luchie has done it, we can do! Oh well this was just a short message hopefully to inspire you. I"m no teacher Luchie but my mom had that dream for me when I was a little girl. I decided to go a different path in life, simply because a few things came up. But we just never know the impact that we can have on others around us. If only we are willing to step on out there on the other side and see what's beyond our two eyes and perceived limitations. God bless you. Please add me as a friend and I wish you all the best. Remember, don't allow anything to stop you, not ever, if there is a will there is always a way. Good luck Luchie, you can do it, if you only believe!

yes you are still qualified.lots of competent teachers are needed abroad since people there don't like to teach. though one's credentials are very good, still the communication skills are important. maybe you can have yourself linked with a reliable agency and have yourself undergo for an interview. lots of employers are outsourcing in other countries just to hire teachers.good luck in your endeavor.anyways, im a teacher too. im 7 years in the teaching arena.

i'm a teacher too, been teaching for 14 yrs. this is not to discourage you but i heard they hire younger ones and w/ experiences from schools like ust, st. scholastica ,etc.i tried also to apply before but i did not pursue it bec. i didn't have the credentials.right now, i have a tutorial center in our house .it's also rewarding . but of course this is me ,your case is different, maybe you can make it there .god bless.

In most western countries, age is not a criteria for selection as well as getting a job. What they look for is whether you have the capability to perform your duties immaculately. So if you think that you're good at your job, go ahead and try.
