What stores offer layaway?

I started a discussion earlier about starting to do some holiday shopping and someone mentioned putting a Wii game on layaway through a games store. It got me thinking about putting some things on layaway for Christmas. I know Kmart offers layaway. Do you know of any other stores that offer it? How about online stores? I'm thinking this would be another way of breaking down the cost of Christmas. Looking for any and all stores you might know of that offer layaway. Thank you!!

Walmart doesn't have layaway anymore they got rid of it a year or two ago. They use the space for "site to store" pick ups. It's a dirty shame though especially since they didn't charge a fee like k-mart does or require weekly payments either.

I know, that stinks that Walmart doesn't anymore. I don't have a Rose's near me. Is that the craft store? I'll have to check into ToysRus and Sears. Sears would make sense if they do since they are now the same co. as Kmart. I'll be super excited if ToysRus does!!!

From what I understand, Toys-r-us is only offering it on their bigger items, such as bikes and play kitchens. I'm sure video game systems and such could be considered big items as they are so darn expensive, but I'm not positive about that. Sears offers a super great layaway program this year where you can pick out all of your items online and either put down 20% or $15, then you can pick the store near you where you actually want to pick them up from. That's the way I'm going this year. I've been layawaying the past couple years for my girls and it makes it much much much easier. And when everybody is searching stores for that hot toy that every kid wants this year, mine sits safely in my layaway while i sit safely at home! Happy shopping! And good luck!

I was just shopping at Burlington Coat Factory today and I noticed that they have layaway. There and Kmart are the only two stores that I know that have it.

Oh cool. I have to see where there is one near me. I live in a tiny little town but I'm not too far from Ocala, Orlando or Tampa. Wonder if they do online layaway. Gotta go check that out! Thank you!

Sears has layaway as well. Kmart and Sears are owned by the same company. They both have online layaways too. You can start a layaway, make all your payments online, and only have to go to the store to pick up your items when the layaway is paid in full. Great feature for those in small rural towns, that might not be able to make it to the "Big City" every 2 weeks to make payments.

I can't think of any stores right now that actually still have layaway except for Kmart. I loved that Walmart had it. It was really easy to get things cheap and put them on layaway until we could completely pay it off. It's frustrating that they don't offer it anymore because I don't buy items anywhere else hardly.

I know right? I have a Walmart on every corner where I live but hardly any other stores. There are 2 Kmarts but they are further away and that is about it in my city. I would have done almost all my layaway at Walmart if they still had it. So bummed.....

I know that Tj mAxx and Marshalls if you have those stores near by do offer layaway and they have some great things and for everyone in the family. You got me thinking that maybe i should do this for the holidays and i might not be so strained at the end when it all comes down to buying things last minute even though i have started and i have gifts under my bed. I don't know what other stores have layaway besides the ones that you have mentioned. Have a great night mylotting

Thank you so much for that info. I'm starting a list now of stores to check out. I did not know that these 2 stores offered it and yes, I think they have some good stuff. Especially for my 2 girls. I'm pretty sure I have a Marshalls in the next town over but I'm afraid I don't have a Maxx close to me. I moved to a teeny tiny city and our shopping is limited. Thanks again!

I know that some stores that got rid of layaway are now bringing it back in hopes of getting more sales! The only place I can think of right now that I know does lay away though is Kmart.

Oh gosh, that would be so great if more stores offered layaway! With the times as they are, you would think they all would offer it to help boost sales. Let's keep our fingers crossed for a Layaway Revolution!

Gosh, i miss the availiability of layway and most stores *sigh*...i don't have a k-mart near me anymore, and don't really know of any in my area that still offer this service. I loved it, i didn't just use it for holida shopping, i used it for any bigger purchase, like a tv or piece of furniture. I am NOT a good saver of money, so it is hard for me to just put a little aside each week and sit on it until i save up enough to go pay for the item all at once, i would always wind up breaking into what i was saving and spend a little here and there, so i was never able to reach my goals! Bt if i went into a store and put 20 dollars on my lay-a-way per week, it wasn't in my posession, so i coudln't cheat myself out of it, and then in the long run i would finaly get that item i wanted!

Exactly!!!! I tried putting away $20 or so in an envelope for a purchase but the minute I was short a week, I would just go to my envelope. My mom always put our back to school clothes on layaway. I remember when I was little going to the store and picking out all these clothes a month or so before school. I love layaway!!!! I want it everywhere.

Sears also does layaway! I was very suprised to learn that. You can even place items on layaway online...the only thing is that all of the items online are not eligible for layaway. But if you happen to see something that you want on their website that is available for layaway, then you can put it on layaway online AND make the payments online. Easy as that. Good luck!
