Hi, dear mylot friends. When i download files, i sometimes find downloaded files is compressed by 7z,so i have to install 7z to open this files, 7z is free software, its compression rate is bigger than rar or zip, it uses smaller memory than the latter, but 7z is much less popular, juts new compression software, i think 7z will be more and more in household computers. What do you think about 7z?

what i like about 7z is that it's free unlike WinZip and WinRAR. One good thing with 7z is that it lets you extract EXE files. I have no success in extracting EXE files with WinZip and WinRAR. This is really helpful when you download files in the net because sometimes they include a trojan inside that certain program.

I love 7zip, it's very good for me and it costs money to compress files into .rar so free is always better to me.

well i have used it and i feel its just like any other. but the problem is that some of the files open only in that particular software which is a pain. i mean win rar is best and so for that reason i prefer win rar over any other. but yes the compression rate of this software is good.

I don't use 7z compression much. The only programs I use for such things is WinZip or WinRAR, but either way, as you said, 7z isn't very much a household name, so I stick with what i'm familiar with. I've been using WinZip for many years, WinRar a bit less, and I do carry big, VERY big files, but unless 7z reaches household-name status, it's not worth my time (yet).

I had just used the 7z a last few weeks or perhaps a month. Actually, 7z is a open source file achiever designed originally for Microsoft.Which is means that it is free, no need to register or pay for 7z. It can achieve format, support or read and write to several different data compression such as ZIP, gzip, tar, xz, ARJ, RAR, JAR, ISO, Z, LHA, rpm, dep and many other types of compression. 7z have a high compression ratio better that ration that provided by WinZIP and PKzip. But it is not compatible on Mac and Linux, sorry for Mac and Linux users ya. For me, it is not because of the 7z is good from the other compressor. WinRar n Winzip is more popular and we already know bout that type of compressor but why we need the other compressor? Simple, like i had mention it before, WinRar and Winzip are not free, you can perhaps save up to $30.

Yeah, I agree that 7zip is great software when it you compress it in 7z format. But since it is a less known software, we can not be sure while sending files that other system has the same software which can open the 7zip files. So I use ZIPGenius software its also a freeware which can open almost any extension compresses file.

I haven't used 7z before. Most of the time I just use Winrar and I think it is a good software to compress files. It can also divide the file into different parts and set the password. So I am not going to try another software which works the same. I love China

Hello, I personally use WinRar, a program that can read most compressed file formats that also includes 7z. I like it because it is very well known, and really it is a small software size. Make sure you have a good day, Happy Lotting!!

I'm trying to compress a file size of 2255 KB with WinZip, winrar and 7z. The result: - WinZip: 2147 KB or 95.2%, - Winrar: 1001 KB or 44.4%, - 7Z: 948 KB or 42%. I need 7z, compression so that the results can be transferred to my cellphone communicator, the memory is limited.

7zip is lot better than rar and zip.It really gives us a better compression and when u extract a file(you can see clearly with large file),7z extract very fast than winrar. It always a better choice for me.And popularity doesn't matter if the software is good and fine.
