OK ... So I have had major problems the last 4-5 nights getting my 2 1/2 year old daughter to stay in her bed after bedtime. She would get up so many times that she often wouldn't go to sleep til 11 or after!! Needless to say I needed to find something to make her stay in bed. So last night I was giving her some cough medicine before bed (she has a cold or something and will cough til she throws up... fun stuff) and of course she spit half of it out and said it was yucky. I told her that if she didn't stay in bed after I put her in her room that she would have to have more of that yucky cough medicine. She said she wanted more! (I was surprised) So I called her bluff and had her take the other half of the medicine. Again to my surprise she took it no problems. So I tried to think quickly for something that I know she doesn't like to eat... GreenBeans!! So I told her if she didn't stay in bed that night that she would have to eat greenbeans... she said she wanted some but I told her she would have to wait til after I put her to bed and if she got up. So about 5 minutes after I put her down she comes running down the hallway telling me she wants greenbeans... so I open a can and give her one (cold, straight out of the can) and of course she spits it out.... I tell her to put it back in her mouth she does and spits it back out. Tell her to throw it away and go back to bed. 10 minutes later she comes out and says her belly hurts (good grief!) so I make her eat another green bean and give her something to sooth her tummy and put her back in bed.... she didn't get up at all til morning!!! Yeah! What have you done to try to make your kids stay in their beds?

Luckily, I've never had the getting out of bed problem with my 2.5 year old son. We put him in bed and he stays there until the morning. Now, my 6.5 year old daughter on the other hand, is another story. During summer break she developed this addiction of staying up until it was a.m. She would come down the stairs repeatedly to check what time it was. Of course, she also has a television in her room. Well, my husband first put a timer on her television so that it would go off at 10:00. That didn't really work so then he started telling her that if she came down the stairs one more time he would get a pair of scissors and cut the cord to her television. She stays in bed now.

LOL. I think my little one would have wanted me to cut the cord to see if I would do it!! That's great! Thanks for sharing!

Hey, I must say that your solution is great and I know it will help people facing the same problem with their one. I don't know whether it is working or not as no way I can test it at present but I know that giving green beans have immense health benefit for the child. .
