2nd Place in Short Story Contest!

Yep, I placed 2nd in the Science Fiction Accentuate Short Story Contest. I still can't believe it! I haven't done much sci-fi writing, so to place 2nd in a contest for it was really exciting.
The first anthology is coming out soon. I have two poems in it, then two stories in another one and now a 2nd place story in this one. I can't wait to hold the books in my hand!

That's wonderful. Congratulations. I am sure you are quite happy about it. I know I would be. It's great to win, it's even better when it is on a topic you haven't worked much in. That's incredible. Guess you don't need in practice in that area.

Congratulations on getting second place! Even though I'm sure you would prefer first, that's still something to be happy about. I have never entered a short story contest before but it's definitely something that I am not opposed to doing. I just might try entering one sooner or later.

You should give it a try. If you put your story on the forum we'll help you critique it and all. We help each other out. It's a great way to get your feet wet in contests cause there isn't as much pressure as some places.
I would like first one of these days, but second was wonderful!

That is so cool, sunnflr! Congratulations! So awesome! When is the book coming out?
I got honorable mention in a national contest when I was in the 7th grade. It was a short story we had to write as an assignment in that class and my teacher thought mine was so good that she entered me into this contest. I was thrilled to receive honorable mention. So, I can honestly feel your excitement and pride at placing second.
So, any more plans for writing? Maybe you should be looking for a good literary agent now?

The first anthology is supposed to be coming soon, hopefully before the end of this month. The others will follow, but we don't have specific dates yet.
I write all the time. I enter the Accentuate contests and other online short story contest. I've also had a poem and flash fiction piece published with an online publication.
Not ready for the agent quite yet...lol

Yes I read about that in the newsletter and the announcements section on the forum! A big congratulations to you! I am very happy for you. I don't think I got to read your story before you entered it. Now I can't wait to read it in the book. :)
