Before you conclude that this is going to be another marketing ploy to buy any health product or take this as a scam, please spare a moment of your precious time.
You may find this interesting and just might save that spare and extra needed cash in your pocket at the end of the day.
I am just one interested health buff that will always be on a look out for natural or costless effective medicines and treatments. Once, I find them, I am just happy to share with everyone including my friends here in myLot.
In this discussion, I discovered from this article that people can loose weight by sticking one's feet in cold water. The conclusive study which I find it reliable and true starts by telling us that there are basically 2 kinds of fats inside a human body.
The first being white fats a.k.a. bad fats, (Huh! Not all whites are good eh? [joking]) which we are all too familiar with are the fats which sits under the skin on our tummies and thighs and is the result of overeating.
Then, there are the brown fats a.k.a. good fats, which its job is to generate heat. It does this by boosting your metabolism, so you then start to use up the 'bad' white fat.
So, Dr Aaron Cypress of the Joslin Diabetes Centre in Boston and Sven Enerback, a researcher at the University of Goteborg in Sweden have concluded in their studies that cold temperatures can actually activate these brown fats to consume the white fats.
In Dr Aaron's studies, it is revealed that three ounces of brown fat that was maximally stimulated, could help us burn an extra 400 to 500 calories a day. Whilst studies done by Sven Enerback, brown fat deposits showed up each time his human subject's body temperature dropped.
Now, whilst another faction of doctors and scientists are racing to formulate drugs to trigger the brown fats and/or synthetic brown fat vaccines, I am more keen with exposing ourselves to cooler temperatures by dipping our feet in icy cold waters or have a daily sauna and plunge into icy water afterwards or don't have the heating on in the car and spend more time outdoors in the winter or any other simpler and natural ways to activate these fats in our bodies which will be beneficial to our health in the long run.
So, are you in for this natural heuristic form? If you are, I would really like to hear some results and so will I, in my next post.
Take care and good health to everyone here.

pixeltwistr,
Where you are from, I think it would be wise to pace yourself moderately. To begin with, you may try adding ice till you feel slightly uncomfortable for your feet but enough to make you feel cold.
Keep a log of the amount of ice, feeling, weights (before & after) and pictures. I am sure that it will work but just how much and how long will be quite individual. Also, you may want to be more active outdoors during your winters.
Who knows you may just be a success in the making.
