Caster Semenya, an 18-year-old South African who won gold in the 800m race in the world championship at Berlin has been accused of being male due to her masculine looks.
You can read all about it here:

I feel that the IAAF should have not leaked this until the tests have been concluded. This poor girl must be going through hell. I really feel for her.
The reason they are doubting her gender is because she has improved her time by four seconds which is a lot in athletics.
What do you think?
Is it just sour grapes on the part of the other athletes or are they justified in accusing her of lying about her gender?

From the interviews of the other athletes, i never heard them sour-graping. some of them are even feeling bad that Caster is undergoing this gossips. When I saw her pic, wow, her muscles' cut are even better than mine. Maybe those muscles provided her the needed strength she used for the competition. Until proven, she should be given the benefit of the doubt.

I totally agree with you about IAAF allowing this issue to reach the media. The situation should not have been made public until a definitive result.
I've seen Caster Semenya and she does have some masculine features, but that's not at all a criterion to consider her male. If this information is backed up by other testimonies I don't think it's outrageous to test her and see what the real gender is. After all, if she is a female indeed, why should she have a problem in allowing the tests? It is a very unpleasant situation right now... I hope a definitive result emerges soon.
