Is there any goal for a life or nothing at all?

It is something debatable. Many claim that human life has some goal and one should strive to achieve it. Others say that there is nothing like that. In old days, 'salvation' was believed and practiced a lot. These days it is decreased a bit. And many yogis are believed to be achieving some extraordinary knowledge and powers through 'Rajayoga' practice. Usually they renounce life (true yogis)and some yogis do social service. But is there really a goal for a human life? Birth is just an accident? And death is the end and nothing after that? Ever this question bugged you? Share your views, thoughts!

I will start off by saying that I am not religious. I have been a part of many churches and am fascinated by the idea of religion - especially really early religion before man had cities, or even settled into communities - but I am not myself religious. I have found that through not being religious the question of whether life has any meaning is a hard one to answer. When a person is religious they can just say 'God put me here' and move forwards, gaining comfort from the idea of a purpose in life, and I know people who have done that. I would like to do that but my mind is too quizzical and examines everything so the idea of a God didn't work with me in the end. So after a great deal of thinking I came to the conclusion that there wasn't really a purpose for human life, save for perhaps a biological one. In college I did philosophy (I didn't like it, but I had to study it) and there was an argument which stated that the purpose for human existence is to reproduce. I didn't agree with that when I was in college, but now that I am older I have come to agree more with that because I have matured and it seems most logical. All other animals seem to be ruled on some level by those base instincts, so it seems odd that us humans would be any different. I am still truly seeking a really fitting answer to this question, but at the moment the above idea is the idea I have identified most with, and so it is the one I have used to answer this question. I do want to add again though that I do not hate religion, I just don't believe in them on a personal level, even if I understand how they help others. All the best and good luck finding your own answer to this question :) Dranz

I do not practice religious things myself. I just couldn't find a right answer. All religious things end up saying that there is something more powerful and mysterious which human mind can't realize in its present state. The mind needs to go to another level to see the answer. As Einstein said, solution to a problem cannot be found in the same level where the problem was created. I think, whether religious or not, this question intrigues all! Happy Mylotting!

Hey, I think that the main goal in life is to tell people about God, and at the same time to help those dying poor people out their. They have no food to eat, no shelter, and no drinkable water. We should help them. Make sure you have a good day, God bless and Happy Lotting!!
